Default Illuminated Leaper

I'm starting a new thread cause I spoke to the owner of Evolution in CA and told him about the picture of the Leaper being posted on the forum. I asked if he could produce and he said yes. We would not have to sent our badge in cause he would be just sending us the piece that is precision cut that would go under the Leaper and it would be pre-wired with either single frequency or dual. The difference is just parking light glow or parking and when you break it gets brighter. We would also be required to drill our own hole and he would send instructions on how to hook up.

Now the million dollar question! How much? Well, he was very honest and said it was only about $20 in materials but very labor intensive to make and then install. He said he really makes his money on the install and charges $200 for the whole job. Being all he is doing is sending us the unit which he still has to make, he wanted me to see how much interest there is and what we would be willing to pay. So if we can get a head count on who wants this mod that would be great. I'm hoping the Moderators can help with this list cause I'm not sure how to do.

Also, this is good for any Jag with a Leaper so XJ, XK, and F- Type are welcome as well.

Saw your post from the other day, this does seem pretty cool, I am around an hour and a half to 2 hours away from the place so I may consider just bringing it in to do it. However if the instructions are easy enough to follow it may be something fun to do on my own, dont want to say I'm 100% set on getting it done, but its definitely something I'm considering now.

Not too keen on anything that requires drilling through the body work, but it would indeed be cool to have something that lights up red only in dynamic mode.

It can be done in different colors, but he typically does red in the back cause it's legal. And he does white in the front.

Ok, let's see if we can get more interest. I can't imagine it costing more than $50-75. But he wouldn't give me a price cause he usually only does this in his shop and charges $200. He wants to see if it's worth it, he said there isn't much profit if he doesn't install. But I'm sure he'd take $100 if we get no interest.

I am interested. I saw another shop that showed they sold something like this but when you went to look at it, they just had pictures of the leaper.

For some reason, I see me taking it one step further and drilling a small hole for a small LED to be placed in the cat's eye. Be a nice touch I think.

Would the material be able to withstand the Suns UV rays without breaking down? I had an Arden badge that the colors faded to chalky white in 2 months!

I think the concept is pretty cool though !

The piece that would be mailed to you would be some sort of thin plexiglass laser cut to the exact leaper dimensions and added LEDs.

You would then 3M the piece to the trunk and 3M your OEM Leaper to the plexiglass. So it would be no different then your badge now. The only difference is the piece underneath.

I'm in. $50-$75 seems the most reasonable range, all told. $100 seems like it may be pushing it.

I'm certainly interested in this and the linking to the brake lights.
Hopefully shipping to the UK isn't a problem.

Agreed with some above with the $50-75 range. Anything over that and I could (and would) do it myself.

im in for $50 i agree for the cheap piece of plexi it takes to build it i dont think i would spend $100 for him to literally just cut the plexi... you can get 1x1 sheets of plexi from Home Depot for like $5.... and the roll of 3M tape for about $5... small led light bulb and wiring another $10 at most...

But id pay $50 for the convenience of it being all packaged together and precut...
