Yes, VERY wise. I agree with the base XF. I drove one on Saturday and would have been very happy with it had I not also driven the "R" on the same day. Still a really good looking car and drives great. The main difference for me was the visceral feeling when driving the XF-R. Do I need that feeling? NO. Am I going to drive like a bat-out-of-hell all the time? NO. I don't know specifics but I'm sure the base XF is going to have less operating costs in fuel/repair than the S/C or R. (can anyone confirm, comment on that as I do think that may be helpful info in helping Marcus make a wise, informed and fun decision?)
