Default Jaguar Partially Wrapped & Painted

Hello,

For a very long time, I've been leering at the XJR and Project 7 on Harry's Garage (
). I've been searching for some cheaper, visual modifications for my car and I couldn't help but keep going back and admiring the paint pairing on them. The BRM orange always seemed to be the best colour combination for dark green. It looked great on the D-Type, on the Lotus Elan and on the new XJs. I loved it so much I even got a auto-inspired watch with a british racing green face and orange hands. So I decided after about two years of ownership to have the mesh portion of the grille painted gloss black and the surround wrapped in orange. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but I knew I could remove the orange to have a nice chrome surround on a black mesh grille when I was done with it, so I didn't see the harm when it was very cheap to do and I could have some fun with it. I'm anticipating the worst and the best reactions, but I'm interested to hear what people think.

in theory its a great idea and I like the approach, but in practice it seems kinda silly looking. It looks a bit better on the XJ, but doesnt seem to work on the XF. the XF doesnt look very aggressive

I was never a fan of the orange.

Side skirt and front air dam accents may look better, in my opinion if your are looking to add some color.

IMHO, it's not good by itself. You need to figure out how to get more orange to balance it out (maybe mirrors, chrome pieces lower in front bumper, wheel caps, etc.) or take it off. It just looks too bright to be that lonely.

Was it the Aston Martin racier versions that had a similar pain scheme that could be borrowed from?

The red brakes with the orange accents looks absolutely hideous, and that's not an opinion, but a fact. If you like it, then that's your opinion and you are wrong to think it looks good.

The brakes should definitely be painted black or silver.

The callipers are grey and not visible in the photos.

I agree. Had I planned on doing this earlier, I would've gotten the wheels in a darker colour and sorted out some of the chrome. The AM N430s are beautiful things, and it would be cool to see if there's something that could be taken from there to make it more proportional. I'm unsure if I'm going to keep this on long term but I'll have fun with it and experiment perhaps.

Do you have access to Photoshop or similar program? Makes it easier to play with ideas without doing the actual work. I designed a complete color change idea I had for a motorcycle I owned that was fun to do. Never actually did anything, but was fun to know how it would look before starting anything.

I completely agree with Lotus on that. Can't have two separate bright colors on one car. Very distracting.

Default Looks cool

I think it looks cool man do what makes you smile. Anything we can do to break away from the average jaguar owners age being 62 years of age. It looks youthful...

Couldn't agree more. That's why I drive Jaguars in the first place.
