Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel X250 2012 Outside Temp Sensor AC fAN Auto air vents not working
Hi, we have an XF On Tues we lost power to the following Outside temp sensor AC fan and auto air vents not sure if it is a fuse or battery issue had the battery checked and have been told both are good but main battery is overcharged a bit? Heated seats and cool seats still all ok car as now done 74000. Can anyone help, please?
Here is what has been done so far Checked fuse cleaned up board re[laced fuse even though it looked OK Disconnected battery for 30 mins cleaned outside of the sensor. Started Car low and behold everything fire into life turned off started again all ok. Went and had a shower came back to the car. And nothing back to before. Went Tesco and done some shopping returned to Car Nothing got out of Car cleaned sensor on the outside once again restarted the car Everything ok once again took a car for 50 miles run all OK Stooped at Starbucks for Coffee Went to restart and it went back to how it was. Very intermittent Fault and am now certain it is the sensor and outside chance the battery had that checked yesterday outcome was if anything it was overcharging a little? So back to the drawing board but think Its new sensor time. How hard is to strip the wing mirror to replace anyone Know!

Don't go any further until you have fixed this problem! Overcharging a battery is worse than undercharging a battery. If your voltage regulator isn't working and is applying more voltage than normal, that could cause all sorts of problems. Fix that now.
Plenty of opportunites for breaking things during this procedure.
The illustration from JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalogue) is the best for showing the fixing tabs on the mirror cover (item 1):
Jaguar Workshop Manuals have included less descriptions in recent years and relied more on illustrations. This is for the removal of the mirror cover and mirror glass:
Finally, this is the procedure for the ambient temperature sensor removal:
I think the ambient air temperature sensor is the same as in my XK (C2Z5465) and it was around 25 UKP.

These are the same symptoms we had here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ontrol-217504/
Unplug the connector with the washer pump wire (whichever that is for your model year (not first registration year) of car) from the central junction box and look for corroded pins.
Which fuse is "air conditioning" in your car handbook? This seems to have moved between the 2012 and 2013 model years in the wiring diagrams.
I should point out that by unplugging the connector more pins could disintegrate, causing more problems. This didn't happen in my case.
I don't think the sensor failing would stop you fan and vents working.
Hi think I read it the other day I had the car diagnosed yesterday and it came up with the sensor issue anyway Its on fuse no F23 10 amp fuse looked fine but still replaced it in case have got a new sensor on order .
The thing is I am unsure about what your post said .. Simply because you would notice loss of screen wash . ours does not and the other half uses them a lot as she is on the road 300 -400 miles a day I normally do the refill and have not put any in for weeks .but I do understand where your coming from but I do not trust the dealers so either fix my self or use independent .but thanks for the link .
I think the screen wash is only forced into the connector when you use the windscreen washer and it then makes its way inside the wire to the central junction box over time (I know it seems unlikely but there was definitely water damage in my CJB at that connector). You can easily check whether there is 12V at the back on the connector (brown/red wire, bottom left pin on top left connector on CJB on model year 2013).
Hi thanks but I can hardly see it very Blurry is it the 2 pins at the very bottom of the picture if so mine is nothing like that all are clean. Current news is Air con started working again so she tells mei had a bit of a pull around on the mirror last evening and wiped it again? New one coming from Guy Salmon in the morning parts guy asked what was up it as they do not order a lot of them I told him he said it can't be anything else but we shall see..What year is yours and do you live near the coast by any chance,
