Default Jaguar XF 2012 Headlight Problem

I have just purchased a 2012 Jaguar XF 2.2D. I have a problem with the headlights. I turn on the lights and both lights work. After 5-6 mins approx. the drivers headlight goes out. This happens on the high and low beams. I turn off the lights and turn them on again and the lights work but a few minutes later the light goes out again. I have also noticed that it flickers while driving sometimes. Has anyone come accross this problem?

If you have already checked that your bulb connections are not loose, I would suspect your ballast may be on it's last legs. I haven't heard of any known issues with them.

Once you have the headlight removed it looks straightforward to install a new one. Dealer and auto store prices for new are pretty high, but you could likely find on e-bay or elsewhere for about 50. The ballast is recessed into the bottom of the headlight assembly.

Thanks for replying. I took out the two headlights and I swaped the ballast on them. I put the two headlights back in and it is working fine now. Maybe it was a bad connection I don't really know but so far it seems ok.

Hi John I had the exact same issue.
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-inop-187769/

I went to Dealership A who first cleaned the connector and put it back. Worked better but still failed after a while on drivers die headlight. Didnt pay because of warranty.

Went to dealership B who I trusted would fix the issue. They told me the bulb/burner was gone and replaced it. Works perfect ever since ... I just need to adjust the angle now as its very slightly lower but this is is easily DIY. They said wasnt covered under warranty....

PN: C2N1716 Burner-Headlamp - $339.99CAD + 1Hr labour is what I paid for dealership prices

Hope this helps if you still run into problems.

Hey guys..Regarding the headlamp issue. 9 times out of 10 its the ground wire which is located under the air filter. Always good to check grounds for many problems. Whenever i do any work and i see ground wires i usually clean them up. Just a thought.

Thanks for your info. We swapped modules from left to right and the problem is sorted - must have been a bad connection.

Hey I have the same issue but mine is the very opposite. My driver side light don't come on when I turn the lights on but after 15min or so it comes on. Do u think it could be the ballast or maybe a connection issue. Thanks
