Default Jaguar XF- Rim color advice!

Hi guys, I was in need of some advice or opinions.. I am planning on repainting my rims to refresh them and was wondering what color I should paint them.. Below is a pic of a similar car that is the same color and has the same rims.. I got 30 tints all around so that adds a blend.. What color should I paint em? Iam honestly tired of the grey color of the rims so Iam debating between: Black (glossy), gunmetal, or a lighter blend of silver?

Either paint the same color for the fresh new look, or go custom all the way. I wouldn't paint factory wheels. Painting factory wheels a different color looks cheesy. Its like trying to give a default wheel a custom look.

I've powdercoated mine black the contrast against the white is nice... Have tinted windows as well so it really makes a great statement and the red calipers pop as well.

With that particular rim I would leave it stock color or a light grey.

I had those on my first XF. They look awesome from an angle, where you can see them dish in, but they were a nuisance to clean.

I think black would look very average - because the spokes are so close together, you wouldnt see much of the rotor or calipers (unlike fcastora's above).

Lighter silver would be nice, but I'd leave them stock or try gunmetal, which might not show up the brake dust.

I vote for that lighter shade of silver. It would pop quite well even from the white exterior.

I believe that is the 19 inch Auriga Wheels correct? I agree with keeping them light, maybe even chromed. Jaguar actually had a similar chromed rim called the Chromed Artura Wheel. Try google images of that rim on a white XF to get an idea how it may look. I think that may give it the pop you may be looking for.

There are a couple of companies on the web that will chrome your rims or you may be able to rim swap them at a discount. eBay is also a good source for lesser expensive oem rims if you go with chrome.

First, I wanted to thank you all for the responses. Fcastora, your car looks beautiful lol. My only issue was these rims in particular.. Since they do have alot of spokes, I dont want to risk going black on them. I saw a picture of a car with the same rims who had them painted black and they looked kinda shady.. I think my only alternative is to paint them a lighter grey, or silver in particular. Washing these rims does get a bit tedious, but, I have to work with what I've got. Does anyone have an issue with their steering wheel being a bit wobbley when hitting a pothole or a bump on a road? The alignment seems to be fine..

Just with the rims, I bought a pressure cleaner and it really whips the brake dust off the rims. On the issue about the wobbly wheels, I noticed mine (when I had those rims) would have a shudder in the steering for the first few kilometres after it had sat overnight. I had it checked and the balance was fine, so I figured they were getting flat spots in the tyres when they were cold, but that was wild speculation. They are prone to getting out of balance, I think. My XKR has minor buckling in both front wheels from potholes as well.

Try using nitrogen in the tires and see if that helps. Nitrogen is denser and does not expand or contract as much. It should help with uneven wear or flat spotting. Especially in regions where the temps vary overnight.

Once again, very helpful advice. I'm looking for some tires prior to repainting these. I might as well get everything done in one shot.. I will try the nitrogen air as well.. Honestly speaking, I was a bit surprised when I had first experienced the steering wheel wobble. You can actually hear the wobbling when hitting anything that is not flat on the road, and let me tell ya, it gets a hell of annoying.. First Jaguar, so I wanted to make sure that it wasnt one of the quality issues that come with the car.

Sweet. I'd paint the calipers red while you are at it, which might break the amount of black so they wont look like steel rims. The calipers are huge on the front but not on the back, but they'll show through. I had mine done on the second XF and it looked awesome, though they were the Hydra 20" rims

those look great. I feel as if the calipers would not be visible because of the amount of spokes my wheels have. Since you had only a few, the calipers stick out.. I wanted to try and see how they would look just glossy black and if successful, go in for the real deal and maybe paint the calipers black. What do u think about tinting the roof black? Give it more of a black and white combo with that panoramic roof.

oh that wasnt mine, sorry. Mine didnt have black rims. This was mine. Black roof? Dunno, but I suppose with 3M wrap you could do it yourself very cheap, then take it off if you dont like it. I've been wrapping interior bits in my car then played with wrapping the shape of my headlights, it is amazing how easy it is.
