Hi all
after my recent post about my speedo needle light problems it looks like my only way of fixing it is to get another speedo,
my question is would it be possible for me to swap them over and what do I need to do it can I get a used one or would it have to be a new one and what software would I need to do it myself I have ordered from china a Mongoose cable would this work or would I have to take it to a specialist.
many thanks in advance

Dirty Harry used to say "do you feel lucky punk ?" - that seems to sum up many dealings with the clone Mongoose cable especially when it comes to any module ECM programming. I applaud your courage but I would be inclined to consult with a Jag indie shop who have the legitimate JLR SDD tools if you don't want to go to your franchise dealer.

Swapping the instrument cluster on an XF is quite a complicated process as the vehicle security system is part of the cluster.
You must first 'erase' the keys from the OLD instrument cluster otherwise they cannot be re-programmed to the new cluster and will become paperweights.
There is a procedure for "configure new modules" which you can follow for the instrument cluster replacement programming. I'm not going to explain it step by step but it's quite involved. And risky if you are using a cloned junk Mongoose.
You will probably also have to recalibrate the steering column too.
Not sure where you are located, you haven't said... In the UK I presume if you have a diesel...
