Question Just bought a XF Supercharged - question about rear deck spoiler

Just bought a new 2010 XF Supercharged in black. Got a pretty good deal on it since it is model year closeout.

Anyway, does anyone know about those rear deck spoilers you can get?

Where can you buy them?

Do they come painted or do you have to get them painted yourself?

How do they affix? I heard it was just double-sided 3M tape.

Thanks for your reply.

Pic if you are interested...

Nice XF, what made you go supercharged rather than XFR?

I was looking into the spoiler but think it ruins the lines of the rear.

Thanks for the info. So they come unpaided and affix via 3M tape.

It is not an XFR, it is the XF Supercharged.

More than likely it will come primed and ready for final paint. This is typical for accessory body parts as lead times or excess inventory make it undesirable for manufacturers to sell parts pre-painted. It would either take a very long time to get, or the supplier would need to keep stock of every color code on the shelf. Both scenarios are not good for business.

As an example - I looked into adding the Jag chrome stakes hood vents to the XFR. They also come primed and must be shot with final color once delivered. I am on the fence with the purchase - debating on if I trust a factory-type finish on the painted parts. At the very least I would have your local dealer (if they do not have abody shop) point you to a Jag certified body shop for the final paint.

Hope this helps ...

I wish mines had come painted. I purchased mine from the dealer at time of sales along with the chrome vent and mirror covers. The day I came to pick up my new 2010 SC, I was very disappointed with the finish of the spoiler. When you open the truck, you could see paint streaks and runs. I must say, the sales guy wasn't pleased either. He showed it to his boss, who made the paint guy redo it and they gave me back the cost of the spoiler on the spot.

Now, Go back to that sales guy and show him all the paint runs on the car.
Maybe you'll get your money back...and keep the car ???

I'd say you probably should have waited more than 1 minute to see if issues had been resolved.

Advertising and business promotion is not allowed on the forum without prior agreement with the admin.
My attempts at being diplomatic seem to have failed therfore I've deleted the offending posts, it looks as if the OP got the info he was looking for so i think it's time to close this one.
