Default LED Lighting

So I have recently been looking into changing all the lighting in the car to LED's instead of the normal bulbs. Did a bit of ordering on ebay (hope they fit) and was looking for some pointers. I know there are a couple threads in the past that discuss this stuff but just wondering what your thoughts are on it and if I can get any advice with pictures.

I am going to do licence plates, footwells, reverse lights, glovebox, trunk? and maybe puddle lights (those are the ones under the mirrors that shine on the ground when you unlock it right?).

Was wondering about signal lights (rear or front) and also high beams or the little light beside the low beam (I have HID's so no need to change those). What about the signal lights on the mirrors themselves? When I change the footwell's will they still fade in and out? What about the touch lights in the front or the roof lights in the rear?

There was talk about taking the mirror off to get at the puddle lights and instructions around that. Is this difficult? Do you just tilt the mirror all the way in and then just sort of pry it off? It seems like it might be interesting.

Any advice and/or pictures would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hopefully the LEDs don't stay lit or cause a fault in system as if you had a bulb out. Just do the license plate bulbs first and see what happens.
These cars are very sensitive when it comes to the electrical.

I just bought these for my license plate ..
PIAA 19172 168 Xtreme White Wedge Bulb - 2 Piece : Amazon.com : Automotive PIAA 19172 168 Xtreme White Wedge Bulb - 2 Piece : Amazon.com : Automotive

They aren't LEDs. They have blue hue to them, and aren't very bright like some of those lexus license plate bulbs. Don't need extra attention.

I replaced my high beams with Hoen Xenonmatch Titanium H7 and they look a lot like the Xenon color (www.hoen-usa.com).

You can't put LEDs in the headlamp cluster (the so-called parking lamps between high beam and low beams) due to the heat the headlamps generate. Those are #194/168 by the way. On my Porsche, I used PIAA PIAA Xtreme White Plus for the front parking lamps next to the headlamps and they look very white. On the XF, I just used chrome bulbs that glow amber when lit for both the front parking bulbs and the front turn signal bulbs (#3457). I got these from www.stealthauto.com.

I replaced my reversing lamps with 68-LED #5202 bulbs from Ebay.

Okay, I am writing this from my phone so forgive my brief and misspelling.

I have tons mega amounts of research on LED's. My buddy imports them and I have went through many brands and such and I can add lots of input here for you guys to save you lots of time and money.
I chose not to buy my buddys due to my own findings.
If you want the best LEDs out ther then buy yours from VLEDS.com They have monthly emails and coupon codes via FaceBook and Emails, usually 15% off orders.
For all my interior lights I bought a bunch of these as I just wanted a pure white 5k look with no blue just white : A Pair White T10 W5W 194 5 SMD LED Car Light Bulbs | eBay The only issue I find with these is I have found a few of them 9 3 in the past year) go ut or have 1 of the LEDs on the bulb flicker or go out. Other wise flawless performance and color and PRICE!
Just remember this when buying 194 style bulbs for the JAG, you must buy this tower shape or it will not fit in the housing, this is a good example of a 194 type that will NOT fit as the LEDS can NOT be wider than the base at all to fit : These are to long Car White T10 194 168 W5W 9 LED 5050 SMD Car Side Wedge Light Lamp Bulb 12V New | eBay
These are to wide: 2pcs White LED T10 168 194 9 SMD Car Interior Dome Wedge lights lamp Bulb New | eBay

For the interior and plate lights you want to use the 5 LED 194 style LEDS I posted in the first link.Just choose the color you want.

Now for the trunk light and foot well lights I chose to do these and I love it! So even and match the rest so well : 2 x 24 SMD T10 168 194 5050 LED panel Car Interior Turn Signal Light Pure White | eBay
I got 1 of these for each foot well light as they plug in the stock bulb socket and I got 2 of these for my trunk light replacement to give more even light and I am so glad I did. Everyone loves my lighting who sees it.

If you decide to do either front or rear or both turn signals you will need a pair of 3Ohm resistors, splice in 1 on each side of the 2 wires of the tuen signal to make the fast blinking go away that is associated with going from halogen to LED's. very simple to do. I can keep going on so please ask any questions to those who may have any and want to make it easy and simple to do.

Oh, and i just noticed now that it is dark out that when I unlock my car the Puddle Lights and interior lights were not coming on.
Easy fix for those who had this happen : to Enable or Disable approach lighting hold the touch and hold the center overhead light lens for 2 seconds. You will see a couple flickers to indicate entry lighting is on or off.

And in regards to my above post, the first link with the 5 led 194 style lights, those are the type you want because the 5 LED's in that light will give you a full 360 degrees are of light evenly.
PLEASE PRESS THE "THANKS" BUTTON IF THIS IS HELPFUL

I bought these for the back up lights:

TWO HID WHITE 5202 H16 5201 7W Cree Q5 + 12-SMD LED Fog DRL Lights Bulbs | eBay

These are for the licence plates, footwells, glovebox and puddle lights...hopefully they fit:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/150850037124?...84.m1439.l2649

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/120981422764?...ht_3578wt_1189

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/220994520761?...ht_2470wt_1189

The one set is 42mm long so they are probably to long based on your recommendations (oops) but the other two are 31mm and 29mm so hopefully I can make them fit somewhere. I looked at the trunk and not sure where you put that panel light as well as the footwell.

BigCat you think you could post some pictures of your install day and night?

Any insight on how to get to the puddle lights? I know it says to take the mirror off but how does that work with blind spot monitoring and heated mirrors? Are there not wires attached? Do you tilt the mirror inward as far is it will go and twist from the outside to the inside and it pops off or is there something to pry? After I get that off it looks straight forward.

Also BigCat did you put the same 194 in all the different places? Like same length or different ones?

Thanks for all the help,

Aaron

I replaced my front parking lamps with these on my Porsche and didn't notice any blue. Very nice white color.

I will try to get some day and night pix and locations of my interior LED's.
The panel LEDS in the footwell come with double sided tape so i stuck them in the tiny vent hole next to the plug socket. It was menat to be it works so perfect.
