Installed the H&R 15mm wheel spacers, and really like the look of "Higgins" now. I've not detected any real difference in ride or handling, but short of buying new wheels this is the quickest and cheapest way of making a car look more aggressive.

 

Agree 100% ...a much better stance with a subtle 15mm mod. A big difference in appearance I think.

I have 15mm front and 25mm rear. The rear looks good, almost flush. I'm not liking the front as much, the wheels sit to far in so I purchased 20mm for the front. Haven't installed yet.

 

Where do you buy the spacers from/ Do they have the concentric wheel centers?

 

H&R's are hub centric and XF specific. Just Google for an order location.

 

Hi all.....

I've always worried about wheel spacers screwing up the handling.......so any real diffetence also as an engineer i also worry about the extra load being placed on the hub and bearing......last structural worry......how much thread do you stcking out of the end of the hub adapter nuts???

I should prob stop worrying and buy some!!!

Any side pics showing how much the wheel is sticking out??

My opinion is that 15mm is a waist of time. The wheels are still very much sunk into the wheel wells. Maybe if your not lowered its not as noticeable. But I'm lowered with H&R springs, and I have 15mm front and 25mm rear in the pics below. As you can see, I can easily go another 5mm front and rear.

So I ordered 20mm and I'm gonna replace the front. I might even go to 30mm in the rear. If you look at most the forum members on here who have aftermarket wheels, you will notice that the average is a 15-17mm in the front and 25-32mm in the rear over stock.

 

Just not trying to do the ricer look with 25/20mm. And So.CALi roads are just not very forgiving when it come to exact fitment flush wheels.

 

Well the H&R spacers bolt to the hub and then the wheel bolts to the spacer, so your basically bolting to a full stud.
And as far as added stress, I would just go conservative on the spacer thickness. Any mods you do add some stress, but I've heard no ill up to 15mm F/R. Good luck!

 

RICER?? You do realize that if you had aftermarket wheels 9inch in the front with 35 offset and 10inch with 42 offset, that would equate to the front wheel being pushed out 20mm and the rear would be pushed out 30mm more than stock. So I guess every forum member here that has aftermarket wheels you are calling a RICER. Ohh, and my car doesn't look ricer at all nor does any forum members here that have aftermarket wheels.

You would want to do some reading on "scrub radius" and "roll center".

Of course, you already know about tolerance stackup.

 

Yes and your key word here is AFTERMARKET wheels which have OTHER design elements to compensate for the +/- offset used. But on the FACTORY XF R S wheel MY OPINION (Just as your opinion is +15mm is a "waste of time"?) is anything over +15mm offset pushes the wheels out too far (Ricer), and is far to unforgiving to use on So Cali roads.

Can you possibly do a rear end shot of the car? I was thinking 25mm for the rear as I have the same wheels, but not lowered.

I know there's a difference of opinion on hub-centric spacers, but do any members think it would void the extended warranty on my vehicle?

Might be silly to ask but I'd like to hear a honest answer on what part(s) they think might fail due to the spacers on this car.

Main concern on wear is the hub bearing which is put under an increased rotational load......and maybe the suspension upper and lower bushings.....some one did however rightly point out about factory tolerances but no way will it be near 15-20mm....on the hub face to pivoting components its going to be more like 5mm......working your way through the suspension it will stack up more.....on the front its going to put additional stress on the steering rack and tie rods/bushes as hitting bumps will put additional loads into them.......i'd not go more than 15mm.

 

Not to mention the more you push the wheel out of the wheel wells, the more trash ends up on the outside of the car.
