I was going to fit Michelin Pilot Sport 4S to my 2015 X250 XF S. However, I've just seen that Black Circles have the new model Michelin Pilot Sport 5 for the same price as the Pilot Sport 4S - am I best to get the Sport 5?

I've also seen that Kwik Fit have them for the same price as Black Circles and can fit them much quicker (I need them fairly soon for an MoT). That said, I've never used Kwik Fit in the past as I've heard so many horror stories! Are Kwik Fit ok to fit tyres these days or are they best avoided?

Michelin’s marketing is kinda messed up with their naming of tires. The PS4S is still the best. A replacement has been announced but as an OE tire only for something exotic. The PS 5 is the new replacement for the PS 4. It is not better than the 4S. The Tyre Review guy on YouTube did a whole video on the new Sport 5. In both cases, this is a summer only tire. You don’t want to drive them under 40 degrees F.

 

I've seen a lot of this lately, asked around and I don't have a good answer as to why the tire wore this way. Neither the winters or subsequent summers have worn like this.This was what all four of my Pilots looked like after winter storage.

 

I had Toyo R888R's on the Triumph. Couldn't even store them in the cold during the winter. My wife loved having a set of wheels in the laundry room.
