Default Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials

Is anyone running a drag radial on their XF?

I had M&H Racemasters on my Hemi Ram (200 hp nitrous shot and 400 hp motor) but the biggest tire they make is a 18" which will not fit around the brakes on the XFSC.

Mickey Thompson makes my 2nd fav drag radial and in a 20" rim

P305/35R20
305/35/20 will that fit? Anyone tried it yet? Do you think I could get a 305/35 on a stock XFSC rim? Mickey Thompson says they will fit a 10" wide rim so it should work?

Below is my old setup

I suspect that they'll fit, but the circumference is about 6% too much. I can't say for sure, but a lot of cars with stability control don't deal with the additional circumference all that well.

I ran Toyo R1 Proxes 245/30/17 on my G35 for drag radials with 255/50/17 on the front and had some ABS codes and stability codes the entire time they were on the car.

So I agree with you its going to make a sensor say something is wrong. I guess the better question is what happens when it says something is wrong. I am worried it may disable the ediff

I still have these rims and tires from the G, I wonder if I can get an adaptor to run on the Jag and make Mustang Bullit 5x114 rims bolt to the Jaguar 5x108 hub. That would be cheaper then buying drag radials and rims and finding out they won't work.

Found em $72, my rims are 17x9.5 so If this spaced the rim out far enough I could run 275/40/17 or 305/50/17 drag radial on my Jag and still clear the calipers.

5x108 to 5x4.5 - 1.25" Wheel Adapter

Good luck, we tried the 20" and 19" on my buddys XFR and even though the fit the car freaked out and would toss codes all over. And when he stepped on it hard the car would give a E-Diff Fault and go into limp mode. He wasted over $2500 in wheels and tires tryn to get this to work. He finally got a 18" to work but it rubbed the caliper a tad and even with a crazy offset there want much threads for the lugs to grab onto. Then after about 10 miles the Diff broke. Dealer pulled codes and a long term memory out of the car and seen there was what they called " Abuse" due to a wrong whell calibration . After that he paid to have it fixed and sold the car as it always had a vibration after that even on the stock wheels. He know things the half shafts or drive shaft some how got bent from this.

My conclusion and info from others is the jags wont ever spin a drag radial anyway as the TCU wil pull the TQ out of it due to the extra load it sees. The best results I have seem is wit ha stock size but sticky street tire like a nitto Invo or similiar, not a drag radial. Benz guys are seeing this same results and issues on the new 2012 S63 TT cars. If it were me I would buy some VHT or Track Bite and spray the road and my stock tires with it for an ideal grip. This is cheap, effective, and won't give you any warranty issues. I have used this on every one of my street cars I wanted to race on and off the track except for my Supra's which were very high HP cars and needed a slick.

Oh, and if you use tha twheel adapter and a drag radial you will feel a nasty rub on your fenders as the Jag "Squats" a huge amount on the launch.

I think I will just take your word for it with the 17's...wow!

I already get e-diff failure/fault soft codes every week.

So you think the MT's are a waste of money even on a stock rim even with TPMS? Because you won't ever be able to get them hot enough to be sticky?

Thanks for the reply to this post

Yup, I think it is a huge waste. There is a member in another section, XK I think who has proved all this to be true. He ran his car stock out the box fro mthe dealership and with a sticky tire. The car went slower withthe sticky tire as the TCU pulled the TQ back. Car went 2 tenths faster everytime on the stock tires. I think stock it went 12.2@119 and with the tire 12.2@114 . The TCU holds it all back, he said he can even feel it fall on its face with the sticky tire on it. It grips and launches great but then after the 60' it falls on it face.

Thats a lot of money you want to spend to find out it doesnt work or make you go faster. I even think he has for sale the 19' drag radial wheels and tires for sle, they mount right up and fit perfect.

My Hemi Ram was a 2004, 2nd year for the Hemi, and we all ran into TCM issues when we started to make big (350+ at the wheel) power. The 03 Hemi's could pull a wire out of the Transmission control Unit and really open things up. The 04's had the TCU on in the ECU. We found that pulling the ABS fuse disabled Torque Control Managment. Do you know if anyone has tried this? I suspect it would also disable the E-diff which would make it impossible to lauch.

Yup, yried it. Put the car in limp mode right away.Anyone who can flash the car can make changes to the TQ manegment. So far no tuner has been able to crack the TCU just the ECU found it way to invasive and decided not t otry anything lik this with my Jag. To expensive to fix and the TCU had a 100 mile data logger built in it. So they will replay and see what was going on the past 100 miles.

Well I guess the good news is the TCU IS protecting the drivetrain from damage. Its too bad doesn't have an off/on switch for the track right :-)

Maybe one of the tuners will make a handheld for around $600 that can make some 'safe' changes and improve our times. COBB I am looking at you nodding and winking...

Check with Eurocharged, they just made a handled for MB cars called a 'Genius". see if they have it for Jags.
