I took out the valves on my stock mufflers and replaced everything in the middle with an x-pipe. Gave me the perfect blend of hearing it, without only bring able to hear it.

Just installed my new Mina exhaust on my XFR-S AND IT SOUNDS FANTASTIC! Had one on my XFR as well! More drone in the XFR than the S so even happier than before!

I've been planning on referencing you and Craneboy's post about your setups when I get mine done. I've had it as a bookmark for a while - just trying to get my car to quit having issues long enough to know it's stable.

Understood. That must be really frustrating.

The universal 2.5" mufflers are the ones to go for - VMK10-250. Just have an exhaust shop weld them in.. On the basis of you wanting loud and screaming one minute and quiet the next - a switchable exhaust is the only real solution. Other options will be too loud or too quiet at the wrong times..

If you've got the 4.2, consider the paramount rear box. It sounds amazing, like an Aston. I had it on my 4.2NA and it was probably the best sounding exhaust I'd heard.

I have the x pipe and resonator delete on my XKR. It sounds great, but unfortunately I dont get to hear it so much from inside the car, with the fixed rear windows. It is more of a howl than a throb. Personally I preferred the sound of the 4.2.

That sounds awesome, but it's way more than I'd be willing to pay with shipping to the US.

It looked pretty similar to the Mina one from the outside, but it is just the back section, maybe the last 2 feet or so which has small cylindrical mufflers in the place of the bigger stock ones. Unless there is some magic going on inside the mufflers, I don't know where all of the money would be. No drone at all on the 4.2.

I believe that Paramount did another one which deleted the rear mufflers altogether.

I had a guy build me a custom exhaust. It's 3" and sounds awesome. It's loud, but I don't have any drone really. I can try to get a video of the sound for you, but it's so damn windy here that it would sound terrible. Maybe I can do a quick rev vid for you when I get home if your interested.

I really like the look, but I think straight pipe would be too loud for what I'm looking for.

+1 Drone is different for everybody, some tolerate higher noises and others are very sensitive. Unfortunately I am one of the sensitive folks, I tried several exhausts on previous cars, but no matter what i tried, I always had drone issues with aftermarket exhausts.

I am planning on doing this, cutting off the muffler and two resonators on the midpipe, and replacing them with a X-pipe/straight pipes. If i find that it doesn't sound good enough, I will go either the Mina or the Varex route.

I didn't notice drone with just the Mina axle back, but notice a little with the Xpipe and resonators removed. Personally it doesn't bother me but just stating from personal experience.

Since it's only the axel back it really isn't that loud on the highway or anytime you're cruising around town. Under acceleration though it definitely sounds mean. I'm a younger dude though. So everyone has different preferences.

I posted this clip of the XFR-S in the XKR forum. That is the noise of the 5.0 supercharged with an X-pipe. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...x-pipe-151418/

This was what the exhaust guys posted on facebook after they had taken out the resonators in mine and put the x pipe in

Here you go. Sorry about the quality, but we got 7 inches on Friday. So I had to take a quick vid in the garage.

I might be selling the car, so I might sell my wheels and exhaust separate. I am in So. California so shipping would be hard and might be alot of $. Frank
