Default Missing Nav Module

Hi,

First of all, i would like to thank you for taking the time to read this post.

I have a 2009 Jaguar XF. (USA). I purchased the car but it is missing the rear Navigation module! I cant seem to find a second hand Navigation Module anywhere online and they run about $2,000 at the dealer!

Does this car use any module compatible with other cars? Land Rover?? I can find Navigation modules for very car but the 2009 Jaguar XF USA Version...

ANY help is greatly appreciated.

Thank You !

What I can tell you is that the XF satnav system has been heavily criticised here in the UK for its obtuse and stupid route calculation and the guidance given. So maybe you don't really need satnav on your XF car.

Thank you for the heads up on the NAV issues. I guess i will have to buy TomTom or something like it... Do you happen to know if any of the landrover NAV Modules are compatible?

I have heard that too, but when I questioned the two people who complained it turned out the settings were all over the place. You can set a number of standard choices, like "avoid toll roads, avoid motorways etc.. With the wrong settings you can easilly (SIC!) be routed from Newcastle to London via Scandinavia and the continent! OK maybe not quite that bad but you get the idea.

EDIT: I seem to recall it is a standard unit, I'll check and get back here.

Three system variants are used depending on market. The basic computer architecture is Ford develoed and used. I would visit the forecourt of a large Ford dealer and have a look at the satnav displays used. I would be very surprised if you didn't find a similar system. Btw is the gps antenna in place? I would assume the wiring loom is there though. The good thing is that the nav doesn't require IDS configuration. Is navigation a choice in the main menu?

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed response. The GPS antenna is in place. The wiring loom is also there and the navigation is a choice on the main menu.

Thanks again for your time!
