Default Music from IPhone 8 via USB "pops" or warbles

Hi all,

I have a new to me 2014 XF AWD that I absolutely love. I usually play music via my Iphone 8 connected with a USB cable. I have found that at times the quality of the music feed isn't that great, and the music "warbles" or "pops" as it plays. I never lose connection and can always browse around in the music folders but the quality is off. Any ideas as to what this could be?

Have you tried with another (new) usb cable? Also try blowing out the socket on the phone where you connect the cable. It can get full of fluff and prevent the plug from connecting reliably.

Do you have the same issues on Bluetooth streaming, or on radio?

No issues on radio or bluetooth. I will try a thorough clean of the phone socket. The USB cable is brand new and Apple brand.

Hmmm, seems to be a known issue with no known fixes:

Has anyone figured out how to attach the phone via the USB cable to charge it but then streams music via Bluetooth? I tried that but when I plug the phone in the system won't stream via Bluetooth, I get a message saying "Enable Music Feedback in Settings" and no option for that appears on the phone or the unit in the car.

Yes. Buy a 12V to USB socket adaptor like this one
Plug it into the 12V standard power socket and it gives you two powered USB sockets that are not connected to the media system. Plug phone into one of them to charge. And Bluetooth to stream

That's a big help. Order placed, I'll see if that works better. Thank you!

Great! My other recommendation. Get the Scosche mount (link below). Stick the magnetic mount to the edge of the dash to the right of the steering wheel next to touch screen. Put the metal plate in your phone case. Then when you get in you just touch phone to the mount, can see it perfectly when driving without obstructing the touch screen. And plug in power when needed

I do that all the time and use waze plus Spotify.
