Navigation voice guidance volume
Hey there. Still figuring out all the bells and wistles on my 2010 XF. I have a question about the navigation voice guidance volume. When it states the direction (turn right, turn left, etc.) The volume it speaks in is very low. I have used the navigation with the radio on and off and adjusted the radio volume up and down, but that doesnt seem to do anything. Anyone know how to adjust the volume for the voice guidance of the navigation?? Cant find anything in the oqners manual.
Thanks alot.

Adjusting the volume while she's speaking does increase or decrease the volume of her voice. However, even with the B&W sound system, to me, her voice is muddy and just sounds flat.
The B&W system, as discussed in other threads, is very good, despite some bass rumbling at high volumes. As such, I have the treble control nudged up on my system anyway, and yet the Nav audio still sucks.

There are volume settings in the preferences area of the "system"

Yep, but there's no separate settings for the tonal quality of the Nav voice versus the rest of the audio system. IOW, if you brighten up the Nav voice to make it sound better (if those settings will even affect the Nav audio), then the other audio sources (AM/FM/USB/CD/SAT) will be affected.
I suspect maybe the audio files for the Nav system are compressed using a lossy scheme, and with a low bitrate. If that's the case, tweaking EQ settings or such mightn't have as beneficial a result as with other audio sources.

On the home screen menu, touch Vehicle; On next menu, touch Syst. settings; on next menu, touch Vol. presets. On the vol. presets menu, adjust the Navigation position line to the left to lower the nav voice level or to the right to increase it. There is also an automatic volume control (AVC) range setting at the bottom of the menu (Low, Medium, and High), but on the four Jags I've had since 2000, I've never noticed any effect from any of the three settings at any speed.
