Question Need help on tips to purchasing new jag

I posted this in the New Members area, but thought I'd get better traffic here to help me out.

Here's my situation:

A little background about myself is that I purchased a 2011 BMW M3 coupe for myself, and am now in the market for a Jaguar for my parents. They're about to retire so I'd want this to be something really nice. They showed more interest in Jaguar than other makes so a Jaguar it is.

The XJ seems a little too "long" for their likings, but looking at the XF, it could be a perfect match. Also when showing them pictures, they took more interest in the XF. Since they're not looking for power, I'd rather just opt for the base model.

I guess where my help is needed the most is, where should I look for one? Are there any preferred dealerships? I don't want to make the same mistake I made on my M3 and missing out on a really great dealer who could've saved me $2k. Do they offer something similar to BMW's European Delivery where we can shave off a few thousands to pick it up at the headquarters? If someone can direct me into the right subforum as well, that'd be great. Thanks, looking forward to the responses.

There are some great deals on preowned XFs on autotrader.com. 2009/10s with low mileage in the low 30's before negotiations.

Good luck!

If a 2011 is ok, you should be able to get a great deal on it if you can find one. I just got one for 6k under MSRP, and I live in the bay area also.

In the search for a 2011, I exchanged emails with dealers in SF, Livermore and San Jose. I reached my final deal with Jeronimo Ponceano at the San Jose dealer - tell him I recommended you to him. They gave me a great price on the car, so-so on my trade-in (2006 M3).

Go to trucar.com and see if there are any preferred dealers w/price guarantees. If not then start searching around the country and use the lowest price as your negotiating point (always use the internet salesman). I ,too, purchased a brand new 2011 for way under MSRP during FQ 1 of 2012. Good luck!

I worked with Mila Hasan at San Jose British Motors and got a great price on a 2012 XF Portfolio with Premium package 2 and burl wood trim. Tell her that Gene from San Ramon referred you and I'm sure she'll give you a great price. I've also tried Livermore, San Francisco and Sacramento and found that SJ is the best place. They're also ranked #18 in sales in the country, ahead of all the dealerships in NOCAL. You'll find the largest selection there. You'll probably won't get as great of a deal with 2012 compared to 2011 but I think the the enhancements to 2012 is better IMHO.

I also use truecar.com with SJ British Motors and was able to negotiate the price over the phone...signing the papers took all but 5 minutes.

Jaguar's fiscal year closes on June 30.. Buy a remaining 2011 model on June 29 and you can get a great deal. I did that with my first Jag and got $13k below the sticker- was actually cheaper than a used one I was looking at!

Try Rusnak in Pasadena, they may still have exceptional deals on 2011's.

I really like the Marin Jaguar dealer where I got my XFR. Ask for Brett. Super guy. All dealers are now getting rid of their 2011s at very good prices. They even had a couple XFRs at way under MSRP, but perhaps they're gone now.

Check out TrueCar.com for pricing, the tab under details for dealer cost.
