Default Need help on what to pay for dealership loaner XF

I'd like to purchase a 2013 XF put into service at the end of September 2013 as the loaner vehicle for the dealership. It currently has 4,000 miles on it. The sticker price is $61,445 new and the dealership wants $52,400 for it certified. I feel it is too high a price given it is now a used vehicle (and smells a slight bit like cigarette smoke inside). What would be considered a "very good deal" on this vehicle? I'm still thinking about a Lexus RX to replace my 13 year old RX so unless I can get a really good deal, chances are I will go for the Lexus instead. All you great deal getters - let me know. Thanks!

Shop the market, do your homework and work with multiple dealers in different states. I worked with five different dealers before the one I bought from finally accepted my offer. If the car was a loaner and smells like someone smoked in it, I personally would pass because there are plenty of CPO Jags out there. If you are dead set on that car then I don't know what to tell you. Go in there and negotiate until you get the price you want...and if they let you walk on it then go buy your Lexus. Either way you will be happy

What XF version are you looking at? I assume from the price it's an 2013 XF Supercharged (v6)? If so, that price seems high to me. But I have no idea which trim of the XF you are looking at.

Welcome to the forum vhorner123,

I can't comment on the asking price as values are different on this side of the Atlantic but "dealer loaner" would set alarm bells ringing for me.

That could be 4000 very hard miles on it storing up trouble down the line.

The cig smell would be the deal breaker for me. That just never quite goes away.

Knowing the way I tend to treat dealer loaner cars I would stay away from them, lol.

Mine stickered for 63k... I got it for 61k with taxes and buried 15k in upside down on my Mini Countryman trade in. I think they ended up giving me the XF for 45k or something like that... work the deal... as a Mine is a CPO so 7yr 100k coverage as well... it had right at 5k miles when I bought it.

That's not a bad deal, but you should be able to get them down another $1k, or 2, at least, based on what I saw when buying last fall. That said, dealers vary. There are a lot of '13 XFs still out there on autotrader or cars.com that are even more heavily discounted than the one you're looking at. I found one I liked that was 500+ miles away and used it in an attempt to negotiate down the price on a local car. When that didn't work, I got 'em down a little more on the car that was farther away and then bought it. Given how cheap it is to have cars shipped, it just doesn't make sense to pay a big premium for a local car, IMO.

Good to see an other forum member with a monster 7. Sounds like you got a V8 planted in there?

Mine is still rotary with the two large turbos, running adjustable boost, up to 20psi. It is incredibly fast and handles like a race car, weights only 2600 lbs.

Welcome to the forums,

Albert

How did you get 7 years on a CPO? I thought it was 6 years.

Thanks for great advice everyone! We ended up with a 2013 XF AWD with a few thousand miles on it and LOVE it! Our only question is how to print off a "sticker" that shows what the darn thing was built with inside! It was advertised by the dealer as having adaptive headlights but we can't seem to get the darn things to kick in. Any help would be great! We are also trying to figure out the voice activated controls and whether it has the HD radio and exactly what that is.

The dealer should be able to print out a window sticker for you.
