Hello All: I am close to purchasing a 2013 XFR with just under 10,000 miles. My mechanic and friends are concerned with long time cost of ownership, as I tend to hold on to my vehicles for a long time.
Any idea on where I can find estimated costs for routine maintenance or anything else I should look out for or be concerned with as far as ownership costs? Is there value in purchasing an extended warranty, and any idea on costs for that as well? The vehicle has a little over 1 year left on the factory warranty.
Off topic, but I live in the Northeast and it's RWD, so I believe snow tires are a must...will I be an ice-skate driving this winter?
Thanks in advance!

That will be a fun car to drive. Jags like any premium car will be expensive to maintain over time. Parts are pricey and if you rely on dealer labor it will be costly
If you can do some work yourself (brake pads / rotors, swapping the occasional part etc) that will help a lot, or find a local Indy mechanic
That said 10k miles and 2013 model is very new so I wouldn't expect anything major. If you are at all concerned about the cost of repairs an extended warranty is a must. Will prob set you back 2-3k or so to add 3-4 years / upto 100k to the factory warranty. Get an exclusionary one (that specifies what is not covered) rather than the other way around. I got the Jag CPO extended warranty when I bought mine - still has another 18 months to run on my 2010 SC model. It has covered a couple of small items (water pump and a sunroof rattle) but I'm just happy with the peace of mind
I live in the northeast too - and mine is the same 5L supercharged RWD. Definitely needs winter tyres in my opinion - but with that and the snow mode / good stability control etc I've found it to be perfectly drivable year round in snow and ice. I would recommend getting a separate (cheap) set of wheels to mount the winter tyres. The 20inch jag rims are very soft and quickly get damaged on potholes.
Good luck. Let us know if any other questions / the XF forum here is very active with some really knowledgeable and helpful folks so I'm sure someone can help

Jaguar is expensive to repair. Parts more than labor. If you can find an indy shop labor can be cheaper.
It's a fun car to drive. I did buy an extended warranty on my 2012 XFR and recently 50% of the cost was recovered in repairs (Water Pump and Engine Seal).
I have Continental DWS tires but even then the car is not mean to be driven in snow/slick weather.

I run Pirelli Sottozero in the winter - they work well but were expensive to buy

I have a 2010 XFR. Very fun car to drive and also classy and comfortable when you want a cruising sedan. I think it's luck of the draw in terms of reliability, like with any car. Routine maintenance won't kill you but big repairs will. Will it be more expensive to own than a Camry? YES! But it's a 510 HP Jaguar!!
I live in CT and pretty much have the rule if it's supposed to snow - take another car. I find it a horrible car to drive in the snow even around town. Slightest incline in slippery conditions and snow tires don't mean a thing IMO.
