Default New here. Diff fluid/ Diff type ? V6s

Hello,
I have a 2015 jaguar XF v6 Awd Sport supercharged.
I'd like to change the Diff fuild. I read all the Posts related to this topic but stuck..
How do I know what fluid to use? And does my car have an E-Diff ? If so does it require a different type of fluid
can someone link me on what to buy ... i just do not want to mess uo my car. Thxs.

I don't know a helluva lot about the 2015 XF V6 AWD, but I can make an educated guess about a few things:
1. I'm fairly sure only the V8s got the E-Diff, and even then it's possible you have an X260 rather than an X250 (the change over was in 2015) and the X260 never got the V8, so another reason to suspect you don't have the E-Diff.
2. I'm also fairly sure that AWD vs RWD makes no difference as to the correct fluid for the rear diff (terrible pun not intended!).
3. For the MY 2015 F-Type the specified diff fluid for both the E-Diff and the V6S mechanical LSD is Castrol BOT 720 while the base model with the open diff uses some other non-LSD brew.
4. It is odds on you have the mechanical LSD in which case Castrol BOT 720 is the go for you.
But best to wait for someone with more knowledge of the 2015 X250 (maybe X260!) V6 AWD to chime in as I might be speaking out of my rear end.
Failing that and as a last resort contact your local JLR dealership.

You don't list where your from?
So I don't know if the Redline fluid I used is available to you? I used Redline 75W90 #57904. Not anywhere near that price!
Here is my thread on my 2014 XJR with the E-Diff. So not exactly the same but you will have a drain and fill plug and one will be a square drive and the other is a hex drive. Why Jaguar did this I don't know?

I had the diff fluid replaced on my V6S F-Type (so with the mechanical LSD, specified fluid Castrol BOT 720) a few months ago but not with the Castrol brew, I went with Motul Gear300 LS instead.
Zero problems since and if anything a slight diff whine that had developed (approx 70,000 km) disappeared,
Like you I found the Castrol BOT 720 to be ridiculously expensive and here in lil' ol' Adelaide it was effectively Unobtainium other than paying through the nose from the local JLR dealership.
After mucho research I determined that the Motul Gear300 LS was a suitable direct replacement and best of all it was readily available on Fleabay at about 1/3 the cost of Castrol BOT 720.
Just be sure to check if you have an LSD or not, if yes then you need the LS (stands for Limited Slip, doh!) version of the Motul Gear300, if not you need the plain (not LS) version.
As clubairth1 says the Red Line 75W90 limited slip works perfectly OK as well in the E-Diff which means it will also work in the mechanical LSD, and I know of a few others around here who have used it in their XF, XK, XJ, F-Type etc with zero problems.

Yea I kind of had the same experience as OzXFR. I could find the Castrol stuff but man are they proud of it! So got the real lubrication spec and started looking for alternate fluids. Jaguar calls for "Castrol SAF Carbon Mod". Since your in the US you can easily find the proper Redline 75W90 #57904.

All over EBay for about $25 a quart. MUCH, MUCH better pricing!!
RedLine 75W90

I have put about 14K+ miles on mine so far including a number of very high speed runs racing at the Texas Mile. 175mph+

I just had my Jaguar/LR dealer do a full Diff/Trans case/AWD service:
"complete awd diff service on the vehicle, drained and refilled the rear diff, drained and filled the front diff, drained and refilled the transfer case fluid, road tested vehicle after repairs were made, no further repairs needed".

$299 for the service $100.17 for all the fluid.

Cheap $ for that service, not worth considering it myself, or "farming" it out to an independent shop.
Note: done near Boston MA. Can't imagine it could be much more expensive elsewhere (particularly since that same dealer just charged me ~$1100.00 to change 6 spark plugs ...)
2015 XF AWD/3.0

Oh, they also charged me $308.98 to replace the supercharger drive belt, replaced the brake fluid for $275.95, pressure tested the cooling system for free, and gave me a $200 discount.
