Default New HID lamps don't shine

Well I went about upgrading my lamps from 4000K to 6000K. I installed them but now I can barely see the light. I installed them as the OEM ones were but no glow. Must I re align them or what the heck is wrong. When I light the lamps outboard they both shine pretty much the same but with a different tint.

Thanks for any help

All you did was change the color temperature. Shouldn't see much difference in light output. Usually you get the most amount between 4500k and 6000k. You are right where you would want to be. Anything below or over, you will start seeing a decrease in light output.

You may have a set of bad HID's. We went over this in deepth in a earlier post. I was one of the first to change mine out for a different color temp. I change mine back in early 2010, Shortly after buying my car and notice a decreased lighting distance. Later in 2010, I purchased a set from IJDMToys.com and they where much better at the same color temp.. I"ve had them in ever since and don't have any issues. I also changed out my high beams for pure white light lights by HOEN. Hopefully this will help you out. Be mineful that the more you move away from that yellowish tint which is in the 4300 range, The less light your eyes will be able to see within that spectrum.

Blue light is no good for night vision. The irony is the light colour of HID is inferior to standard halogen for visibility at night. Top manufacturers spend a lot of money blanking out the blue spectrum in their HID output for this reason. Put another way, HID has to deliver a lot more light to give you the same visibility as standard halogens. This is the only way HID can work. HID produces a lot of extra light and a lot of it is absorbed (i.e. totally wasted) to deliver the correct colour for night vision and sufficient brightness. You want warm yellowish white light or best night vision. (Infrared also works well for seeing objects warmer than ambient but only with the correct conversion display).

Anyone running blue lights is ignorant of how we see at night. The older you get the worse this effect becomes.
