Default New Jaguar Owner

Whats going on everyone. This is my first post, I'll just let you guys know up front I love cars but I'm no professional so any help is appreciated.

I used to own a Mustang GT, I upgraded to a Jaguar XFR. I bought it about four months ago and I love it. Although I love the car, I want to get more out of it. So I came to the experts to see what I could do.

So far I got a Eurocharged Stage 1 Tune and Pulley upgrade. I also am having the Spires Performance Exhaust installed tomorrow. I was told these two things combined should put me into the 600bhp range.

The question I have for you guys is what else can I do to increase the power in this car without destroying the engine. I'm also have wider tires and rims put on the back and possibly having it lowered 1/2 inch or so.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the XFR.

You should stop by our new member section too New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

You're in the right place for getting more power, but there is a ceiling on how far you can go. Check out the posts from BigCat09.

Get a dyno. Slapping parts on won't necessarily add any additional power.

You could remove the precats in favor of some custom "off-road" pipes (swap a straight pipe in place of the precats). The down pipes don't appear to be too complicated. I'd bet there could be a good gain for little cost. The main cats would still be in place and keep the air clean. The precats only help meet emissions during the first minute after cold a start. Even if you had testing you'd pass because you'd have to drive there. You'd have to run some O2 spacers or delay the O2 signal with a RC circuit to fool the ECU. Headers would be ideal but this would be the next best thing.

Other ideas:
-If you have the money look into a supercharger upgrade. Search the XK forums. Avos has a 600whp XK (4.2L motor) due to a SC upgrade (whipple). His build thread is an interesting read.
-Custom intake piping: I put together some intake piping for my SC 4.2L which I sell online for the 4.2L guys. If I had a 5.0L SC to mock up some piping I could put something together. Sound is increased and air flow is smoothed out due to the accordion tubes being removed.
-Ported SC: Look into options for porting your current supercharger. Contact the sites that port superchargers for Mustangs. They would have the most experience.
-Cooling upgrades: Look into options for upgrading the intercooler (Ice chest in trunk, CO2 spray, etc.)

Thanks BlackCoog, I'm going to look into some of those ideas.

Welcome! I also had a Mustang ('66 Coupe with a 5.0 HO swap) and looked at a GT500 before I also ended up with an XFR. The GT500 was cool but way too barbaric and hairy to drive haha. Great choice!

Thanks WRX. I was looking at them even a couple days ago wondering why I went so civil. I like the fun factor of the Shelby. The nice thing is my XFR isn't so civil after putting on the new Spires exhaust yesterday. Thing sounds like a beast now but only when you want it to!

Welcome to the forum and nice car.

Did you notice a significant difference or can you give us any feedback with regards to the tune/pulley upgrade? I have emailed with Eurocharged in Houston on several occasions but because of the lack of any official dyno plots on the XKR-S I have declined to move forward with the tune. I would suspect you would feel quite a difference from 510 to 600 hp.

Thanks!

To be completely honest I have noticed a big difference with the tune and smaller pulley. The car is much more responsive and feels like it pulls harder.

The exhaust sounds great but I'm not so sure it added the 20-30 horse it claimed but that was more for sound anyway. I suspect I would get the 30hp if I added the high flow cats but then I'm worried about it being a little too loud.

As for Eurocharged. I would invest the money it definitely made a difference. The only thing I wasn't happy about is they had to cut my old pulley off and I always like to keep original parts. Not the end of the world but just a thought.
