Default New JD Reliability Info

Saw this this morning:

2014 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) | J.D. Power

Jag dropped 33 incidents per 100 vehicles which is pretty outstanding. The writing states that it was on the back of reliability improvements in the XF. Good signs for the future!

The other interesting thing from the end of the link is that some plants have as few as 12-30 incidents per 100 vehicles. Obviously that's a combination of a well designed vehicle, good plant design and good people, but wow, how bad are some of the plants/models/people to create an manufacturer average of 100 or so?

Just had another look, Lexus has an average of 92 incidents but they have several plants winning awards with incident rankings from 12-18/100. The models include the RX, CT, IS and ES. That leaves the GS, LS, GX and LX - wow, whatever you do, think twice about the bigger Lexus!

It's all well and good but I just don't put much stock in these studies. It's all in the eyes of the user; engine blows up=problem, can't figure our how to pair phone=problem. I mean yeah to an extent it's useful but it doesn't paint the whole picture.
