Default New owner - Activate the confirmation beep?

Hey all, I just got an 09 XF SC and it sorta annoys me that there's not audible beep when locking/unlocking. How do I change that? I know I have an alarm because my wife keeps setting it off when she tries to open the door (since there's nothing that confirms it's unlocked).

Push the lock button twice and the horn will toot.

Hm... Oddly enough, this isn't true for mine. Any ideas why?

Check the vehicle security settings on the display unit. My 2012 has something called 2 stage locking which could possibly be the thing to cause a beep ?

I don't think this is what will cause the beep but maybe try it.
I think 2 stage locking enabled means that if you press the lock/unlock once then it only actuates the mechanism for the drivers side door...twice does all doors.

I read on another post who's car wouldn't beep. Seemed like a fault that needed replacement.
They discovered I had a sounder and it had a short,

Check with your dealer. Two presses of the lock button should result in a beep.

The two presses to unlock is just an option configurable in the vehicle settings.

Thanks to both of you. I'll look into that thread and maybe contact my dealer (I'd rather DIY if possible).

I'm might be wrong, but I think it's possible to activate only using SDD software, so if you didn't know someone who has it, visit dealer

I had the same issue on my 2010 XF Portfolio. There is a sounder under the hood which makes the chip sound, not the horn. Dealer replaced the sounder under warranty, problem solved. BTW, a double press of the lock button on the remote should cause the chirp.

Thanks. I've been looking at potentially getting a used one on ebay or something. Seems they aren't too terribly expensive, so maybe that's where I'll start.

Instead of replacing unknown parts, try testing with a 12v visual/audio device of some kind. No need to waste money swapping out parts!

Good point. A test light would be sufficient, I'd think.
