Default No heat at idle when it was really cold

So now that it’s 60 degrees outside, I got all kinds of heat but a couple weeks ago when it was 0, man, was it cold in the CrapWagon. JLR tech said probably not the aux pump, flush the core first. Flowed pretty well with an M18 water pump hooked up to it but crunchy black bits came out. Then I pulled the Aux pump off and hooked up my NOCO GB70 to it, no spin at all. Found a Dorman available at an AutoZone 50 minutes away.
