Smile Odometer A and B?

New XF luxury is flawless thus far with 400 miles. I leased it rather than order a new BMW 5 series. I am able to find the A setting on the odometer but not the B setting. I assume you just continue to press the button at the end of the stalk through the A sequence and then the B odometer sequence will appear. Am I doing something wrong or is this a defective chip?

You are mistaken. You select the A or B trip odometer through the touch screen panel.

If memory serves you select "vehicle settings" and it should display the odometer option tab which you then select which gets you the choice of which trip odometer you display.

Obviously, the car continues to track both trip odometers regardless of which you select to look at. I like to select the B trip odometer for distance travelled between service shop visits, and leave it to accumulate the mileage in the background. On my X type I rarely got over 1,000 km on trip odometer B before a trip to the dealer was required. On my XF I keep forgetting to look at the B trip odometer the trips to the dealer are so infrequent.

In the Premium I have there is also, in addition to the A and B option, an Auto option (not sure whether it is in the Luxury version) which automatically resets after each trip, although there is a time period when you can pause your journey and it will not reset. Not sure how long that is but it is not long enough for me to pull into a gas station and refill without resetting, which is quite irritating.

Thanks all. Going to the menu was the solution.

Help...I just bought a 2012 XF. How do I see how many miles I've driven total? Like and old fashioned odometer???

Thanks!

Press the button on the end of the turn signal stalk to scroll thru the menu.

p.s. - Read your owner's manual.

When I took my car in for state inspection they had the same issue - they couldn't work out how to read the mileage! As hlgeorge says, the button on the very end of the indicator stalk scrolls through the various displays incl classic odometer.
