My post referring to the new ILSAC oil standard was an updated description of what was previously API specifications for my jaguar XF. I wantED to see what “Car Talk” (AKA Click & Clack, the Tap It Brothers—Tom and Ray Magliozzi.) even though their show is off the air and one of the brothers has died, I wanted to hear what they had to say about it. They’re the ones who explained to me that the specification was a European Ford spec that was on the X350 Jaguar but my X351 has basically the same specs. I’m now on Jaguar number seven, so a post I made along time ago may have nothing to do with what I have now.

Obviously this is an old topic, but just my $0.02 worth. We owned a 2009 XF, with the 4.2 engine, for 11 years. It had roughly 40,000 miles on it, when we traded it for a 2020 F-Pace. During the time we owned the XF, I changed the oil and filter (myself) every 2000 miles. I had access to Havoline (Texaco) non synthetic 5W-30, at a very reasonable price, and that's what I used. No issues during that 11 year period.....
