Default Oil level check for 2013 XF 3.0 (V6 SC)

How important is it to measure the oil when it is at working temperature? My mechanic has a tool that measures the oil in the sump. He insisted on measuring it cold, however, and then filled the oil to 7.2L (the owner’s manual calls for 7.25). What is the likelihood that he overfilled my car? Should I be worried?

Just to clarify, he topped it off from 6.8L to 7.2L while measuring cold.

That small difference should not be an issue. You could always check it yourself while it is warm. That will give you a much more accurate picture then when it is cold.

When I checked with the "electronic dipstick" (after warming the oil), my display said the oil level is ok. Interestingly, the oil reading also displays as ok when the oil has been sitting overnight.

My mechanic thinks that only the "electronic dipstick" needs to check the oil when warm and that he can check it cold with a computer that shows him the exact oil quantity. Could he be right?
