Default One A/C Dash Vent Not in Sync

Guys,

On an 09 XF SC, one of my vents isn't moving with others. When I bought this car in 08 this was one of my fears with this fancy feature.

If I push it open when the others are open it looks fine. Actually it catches and then moves down (closes) with the rest the next time they all close. But the next time they open the problem vent only opens half way.

Does it seem to be snapped? Is it fixable myself? Any tips? Warrantee is over as of April. Was one of first sold in USA.

Thanks,

CK

I always thought that the rotating vents and the retracting shift knob were silly and useless features that were likely to cause problems. Fortunately, the rotating knobs can be turned off, and I did that the day I got the car.

There are other cars on the market that have vents that close. I figured it was to keep dust/dirt/debris out of the system when the car is off.

One of my vents was slow to open as well. The dealer took it apart and fixed it.

the vents are attached to the back side of the dash panels and are easy to remove if your inclined to do it yourself

Most likely I'll go for the soldering iron method hehe.

I thank all you guys for your input. I will enjoy this forum.
