Default Parking Sensor Problem - rear only

Hi All
New to this forum and need some help. I have a 2012 XF with reverse parking sensors only. Whenever I put it into reverse I get a single long beep and the display shows “Parking Camera problem”. As soon as I put it into drive the display on the head until resets. Any ideas what I need to do to fix this. Absolute novice.

You probably do have a camera. And it probably thinks it has a problem. Or the car thinks it has a camera and is throwing a code because it can’t find it.

Either way, take the car to the dealer for a diagnoses.

Thanks Robtrt8. I was hoping to avoid the costs of taking to the dealership and try and resolve it myself.
My XF doesn’t have a camera fitted and only has rear parking sensors.

You most likely have a bad parking sensor.
With the proper diagnostic scanner it can be determined which sensor has failed.
Sensors can be replaced individually.
When purchased new they do not come painted to match car color
If scan shows multiple sensor failures the wiring loom may have a fault ( broken wire ) which can be repaired but may prove troublesome,so replacement of entire loom that runs behind rear bumper would be recommended.
A used one can be an option if its known to be in good working order.

My message was different, upon start up the car said reverse park assist was not available. And when put in reverse, the car said nothing at all. That’s what made me think his car actually had or expected to see a camera.

My Autel said the fault was with the inner left sensor. I’m having the dealer paint and replace the sensor. I didn’t feel like dealing with it myself and I have a good relationship with the service people so I’m not getting hit with full retail, at least on this item. It helps having three Jags, the service department loves me.
