Part?

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X250 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.
That looks like a Temperature Sensor but finding it in the Parts Catalogue is challenging as the XF appears to have more than its fair share of small hoses.

Thank you for your help, I found it thanks to you and appreciate you directing me to the proper place to post in future.
Thanking you!

Hmm I'm not really convinced about the XR851394 part number. I see there is the complete pipe assembly for sale here but don't think they're using the part number for that part.
EDIT: looks like it is JDE10841 it's part of the cooling system for the EGR system, so that's why it's not on the diagram above.

Yeah a bit unfortunate that you have to buy it ( the connector in part 15 ) complete with the hoses, there's a good chance the temp sensor ( part 16 ) is ok, as it looks like the failure is that that tube has snapped where it connects to the engine. The sensor is still the ECT sensor ( engine coolant temperature ) as those lines are still coolant filled but used to cool the egr valves.
I think the initial confusion was caused by the OP stating that it connected to the thermostat housing with a small hose, where as it is actually connected to the engine inlet ( or was it outlet? ). I can see how that would be an easy mistake to make, it's the only car I've come across where the thermostat housing is on the radiator. Probably worth folk posting/requesting photos of where parts came from as well as the parts in such situations.

An unusual example of JLR being lower cost than aftermarket sources which I found charging up to 50% more.

I agree the Gray coloured ECT sensor ( JDE1634 ) is available separately, my point was that the ( black coloured ) tee-piece that the ECT sensor is installed on is only available with the 3 hoses ( which connect it to the coolant manifold on the engine, and each of the two egr heat exchangers ) i.e. part 15 in your diagram JDE10841. It looks like in the OPs photos, that the branch of the tee that goes toward the engine has snapped off, if that's the case then it's part15 / JDE10841 they need ( unless of course it snapped while attempting to replace the ECT sensor. )
I'm not sure what jaguars convention is for if JDE10841 will include an JDE1634 ECT sensor given that it's within the box line for part 15 in your diagram, or if it's excluded given it's separately numbered.
There is a photo of JDE10841 here ( but I don't take that to necessarily mean the sensor is included as photo is of a used part. )

The JEPC convention is:
1. a hatch line box comprises an assembly and this has an individual numbered reference. Item 15 in the diagram in my post #7 is the complete Inlet Hose assembly - P/N JDE10841
2. individual components within the assembly have their own individual number IF available separately. Item 16 is the Coolant temperature Sensor - P/N JDE1634
