Default Part Identification

Sorry to have to ask such a question but I am coming down the end of my rehab project on a 2013 2.0 XF salvage car and found this piece in the car trunk. Does anyone have any ideas what it goes to? I have the car up and driving now and nothing appears missing that I can see. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Wish it was that easy! Looks very substantially made and if it goes on the car as some form of brace then I imagine that it's absence would not be a good thing.

BTW, I have an engine cover in perfect shape off my donor 2012 5.0l if you still have a crack in yours.

I didn't see anything that looks like that part when I looked through a few trunk pictures online. If I remember I'll look through my trunk later today when I wash it.

Is it possible that the part is from a previous owner and not from your car? Maybe it was left in the trunk?

When I had the salvage car delivered, the piece in question, along with a bunch of other broken parts were thrown into the trunk for storage so i doubt that it actually belongs in the trunk but I could be wrong! It's shape appears to match a bell housing and my guess would be somewhere along the transmission tunnel. But thanks for your efforts in any event!

Sure looks like a underbody brace from the driveshaft tunnel. Let me see if I have a pic from when I did my exhaust.

Looks like that's it.

Thank for the offer on the engine cover. They agreed to replace it for me.

Wow! Thanks to the miracle of the airwaves the piece will be returned to its rightful home! Sure is an odd shaped piece for that position. I was wondering why those heat shields were only held up by a washer and as well the body pans were a bit floppy in that area.
I will be putting on the front bumper cover this weekend and will post a picture when she hits the road. Thanks again for the picture!
