Default Pedestrian system fault

I keep getting a pedestrian system fault warning. The system isn't activated the bonnet not raised. Anyone else had this same issue? Told by dealer that in very low temperatures the sensors can freeze and should be ok once thawed but it's 9degree so not frozen. Goes out when I restart the engine and then comes on at random and doesn't go out until I stop and restart the engine.
Any help appreciated.

I read somewhere recently (this forum, a different one, not sure) that the pedestrian system keeps count of "near misses", ie bumps which don't quite set off the pedestrian airbags (potholes, speed humps taken a little quickly etc etc), and after a while the count "overflows" and you get the warning you are getting. If so, you need to get that count reset and IIRC the only way to do that is to have a JLR dealer connect up their SDD equipment. Also, the excessive count could be caused by a dodgy / too sensitive sensor.
