Default Plastic Air Intake Upgrade

Hey all, I'm looking at upgrading/swapping the factory black plastic air intake tubing on SV8 (4.2 SC) for a little more air flow and to increase SC whine.Searching for an upgrade online is proving very difficult. So I'm considering crafting my own using a 3inch aluminium Y pipe with some aluminum elbow and straight sections along with some silicone piping. All of it would be high temp ceramic painted and possibly covered with some heat wrap. My question is, would the 3inch piping be sufficient and would the Y pipe section connect straight to the factory alloy intake connecting to the throttle body? All keeping the the factory air boxes

I've found this image on Google and ideally this is what I would be aiming to do.

You won't gain any power unless you actually unlock the power potential with the ECU reprogramming

At the moment I'd be happy with the extra SC whine but in the future I'll be doing a smaller SC pulley, most likely 6% unless there's a way to increase cooling(aside from the Bosch 010 pump) to reduce heat soak with a 10% pulley and a tune after pulley upgrade.
Would you happen to have any recommendations on a tuning place?

I actually have the car you see in the photo with that setup still on there. Haven't talked to the previous owner for a while but maybe I could forward him this thread to see his thoughts on the differences with it installed as I wouldn't know due to leaving it that way.

Oh wow, no way, really? Haha.
I really love that intake style! This inspired me to try an build my own intake setup for my SV8

I don't know how he did it but it does look great. If you do a custom intake then definitely share pictures of it.

Side note: I wished the engine cover didn't contain the heat as much so I've been running it with it off but it's uglier without it lol

We do tuning on these. Have lower temperature thermostat with fan programming package so the car will stay a little cooler, also have other modifications. See my signature. I will send you a PM

The intercooler radiator can be upgraded too. This is the cheapest place I've found it so far, but I've been told that they might occasionally show up on Ebay cheaper. This is the same company who make the unit Paramount & EuroToys sell

Would that fit an XF SV8 though? It says that the intercooler is for an F-Type

I didn't know that. So it would pretty much be a direct replacement for the OEM intercooler?
