My understanding is this.
Some are saying that there are $10K discounts available on 2011’s still in stock, but I don’t know what trim level as it would seem the more the vehicle costs, the more they would have to knock off. Additionally, these aren’t advertised. I know back in Sept when I first started looking at these, bases that had an MSRP near 54k were listed around 48k openly at some dealerships. No reason to think prices have gone up regardless of what’s advertised. Personally, I passed on the 11’s because of the upgrades done to the 12. If you’re interested in a 12, got to truecar.com (may work for 11 too, not sure) and get your best price at no cost to you. Don’t know anything about the used value.
Hope that helps.

If I’d admit it, I’d probably describe myself the same desires from my audio system. J
I’ve got a 2012 base which also has the 400W stereo. I’ve been listening to mostly Streaming Bluetooth which is usually the weakest (quietest) audio input and I’ve gotten nowhere near above 75% volume with the windows closed. So for me it’s been very much what I like. But surly testing this would be a pretty straight forward thing to do with any test drive. I paired my phone for the test drive … which was really nice when I took ownership 2 days later. Hope it goes well.

I just got a white 2012 XF Portfilio about a week ago and I can't be happier with the vehicle. I ordered the Portfolio with the premium package 2 at the end of November and just received the car; took way to long since I'm in Germany hours away but I love the car and it also came with a surprise. I got the $3000 Sport Package which the dealer said would be free of charge to me, which my wife and I would have no other way.

As far as the packages go, my research on 2011's. the real jump comes when you go to a supercharged (more hp, better suspension, limited slip differential are major changes). Next jump is to an XFR. More hp, rest is similar, but more aggressive exterior with body moldings, black grille.
I drive the 2012 non-super and the 2011 supercharged. The handling, and horsepower is noticeable. I would consider the supercharged if you are interested in a more sport oriented vehicle. Most other features are cosmetic adds below this level.

The 2011's is significant (nearing 17% of MSRP or more). The 2012 has some nice upgrades, but the price on the 2011 is tempting, along with an extra year of warranty.

I am debating on which jag and was wondering what kind of discount can be had on a 2012 ? Did you get a military discount of some kind?

All I can say is that I am very happy with my recent 2011 supercharged purchase. As juguny observed, the power difference between the NA and the supercharged versions is very noticeable (not to say the NA version is underpowered at all), but for me, buying a new 2011 S/C vs a 2012 NA (or even supercharged, for that matter) was a no-brainer, especially with the additional, more inclusive, 5-year warranty that applies to the '11s vs the 4-year non-inclusive on the '12's. If you are looking at used models, I would strongly suggest looking at 2010's vs 2009's based on the engine upgrades, etc., but I haven't spent a lot of time reviewing the older models so others might be able to advise better. The only problem with these cars (esp. in S/C or XFR trim) is the frequent fill-ups -- would really appreciate 3 more gallons in the tank!

I was in the same situation last year and decided to order a 2012 Portfolio Sport. I have been very happy with my decision and love the upgrades from the 2011's. I also must admit I have been underwhelmed with the base sound system. The upgrade to the B&W system seemed pricey at 2300 but in hindsight I should have stepped up.
