So we currently have a 2008 Lexus GS350 that is about to go out of warranty so we're looking to get rid of it and have thought an XF. The only thing is that when we have some questions about about that I hope yall will be able to answer.
1. There is a 2010 XF Premium and a 2009 XF Premium Portfolio in our area. Are there any major differences between the two.
2. Is 300hp enough for this car?
3. How is the reliability of the XF. Jaguars in the past have been notorious for breakdowns etc. however when browsing the site I haven't heard of anyone with major problems so far.
4. What is a good price to pay. Don't want to get raped by the dealer. BTW we would pay cash.
Thanks to any and everyone who answers and hopefully in the near future I will be to browse the forums as an owner.

1 Portfolio is a special trim and wheel package.
2 Yes, 0-60 in about 6 seconds at sea level, the roll on acceleration is even better. Acceleration at speed is also very good.
3 The figures show it is very reliable. I have had no serious issues in 2 years and 28,000 km (17,000 miles).
4 Can't help you there. The XF is a good seller for Jaguar and has not previously been discounted much.

The portfolio has some nice touches to the interior but whether it's worth the extra dough is a personal thing. The nicest thing about the portfolio is the suedecloth headliner and double contrast stitching detail. If it has the larger wheels, in my opinion, it takes a little bit away from the ride and handling.
I'd expect to pay 59k for an 09 premium portfolio and 53k for a premium with possibly an additional 1k off for some of the off colors, silver black, white and red are not off colors.
It's actually 385 horsepower for the 2010 at least, not positive on the 09. 300 wouldn't be enough for me but 385 is great with nice throttle response at all speeds. The supercharged, I think has a little better front suspension but it's going to cost you 61k, and you won't have to work too hard to get that price. Surprisingly, all versions have decent MPG considering what they can do.
BTW, to get the 1.9 have at least a solid 740 3 bureau report and at least 10% down unless you really want to barter.
I've only had mine for a couple of weeks so cant comment on the reliability and after studying for quite some time and tlaking to other owners before buying I am not worried, AND there is no other car like it, I don't care what the reviews may say about the Mercedes!

One difference I believe between the '09 and the '10 is that in the '09, the Nav system cannot get realtime traffic information from the XM system, but I am told this is the case with the 2010. I bought an '09 Premium with XM and I don't have that integration.
Can anyone else confirm that?

Picked up my 2011 XF Premium w/B & W Sound, Rear Sunshade, on May 15 and made a trip to Montreal, QC for the F1 Canadian GP race, now ODO reads 3,500 miles. 27.5 MPG at 75 mph (after a careful break-in of 1,500 miles) and no oil consumption. No problems, awesome performance and extremely confortable on long trips especially with the cooled seats!
My other car is a Lexus GS300, which I have a high regard for given the 150K miles on the ODO with no problems. Although the Lexus is a fine car the build quality on the XF is remarkable.
Only concern on the Xf is that the car was fitted with ContinentalProContact tires which proved to be out of round and needing balancing (force balance); switched to MIchelin Primacy MXV4's and what a difference.
Lastly, I am experiencing a lot of brake dust on the wheels and am looking for advice!
Nothing leaps like a Leaper!

Brake dust was the number one compliant about this car per JD Power. Used to be a time you washed your car when it became dirty. with Jaguar and Range Rover the brother which I have both. You now wash the car when the rims turn a dark shade of Grey.
Or every 3 days which ever comes first. But it is the price you pay to stop on a penny.
No matter who drives an XF-SC or XFR these cars with the big brake package are astonishing in acceleration and stopping.

GET IT AND YOU WON'T BE SORRY, regardless of what extras you pay for. XF is an excellent car all around. Quality is great, at least as great as any other Auto maker out there, which means; all car manufacturers have some problems, and they are all fixable. We also have a 2009 A8 which has been to the dealer way more than the XF.
good hunting.
good hunting.
