Default Radio Issue 2012 XF

Is there a TSB or has anyone had an issue with their radio volume randomly increasing and decreasing. There is also an echo where it almost sounds like words are being repeated.

Haven't heard of that. Have the dealer look at it!

By design the volume decreases when you come to a stop and increases as you speed back up. As memory serves me this is adjustable--should be in the owners manual.

It could be signal bounce with the HD radio. Turn HD off for a while and see if the volume remains steady. Most of our people see such a minor benefit from HD Radio, that they turn it off. HD Radio is much better for stationary or home use. Buildings and other structures tweak/bounce the signals just enough to cause minor blips and dropouts. Doesn't bother some people, drives others crazy.

Cheers,

I have a customer who just complained of the echo. He has the HD on. I told him to try it with the HD off for a couple weeks and see what happens. If that fixes it, I'll let you know. Love knowing that I can find answers to unofficial Jaguar problems on this message board!

Cheers,
Has to do with multiple paths of the signal that the radio picks up and the timing bogosity that wasn't accounted for in the initial design of the iBiquity (the developers) of the HD radio travesty. Just a minor difference in time will create the echo due to the non-sync'd reception of the stream from two different locations that was bounced off 2 or more different structures...

(Full disclosure: licensed commercial radio engineer and former radio station chief...who's been following the almost (from a technical side) universal derision over the HD radio smoke-and-mirrors. Remember AM stereo? Yeah...that took off, didn't it?)
