Default Rain sensing wipers

Weird little problem I discovered today. The Rain sensing feature is not working. In fact the first selection on the stalk causes an initial wipe...then nothing....if I rotate the speed selector, it wipes once..then nothing. The second selection works fine and the third seletion works fine..it is only the rain sensor part that is not working. Is this an issue with the windshield I wonder?

When I had my windshield replaced my auto sensing wiper was not working well and when I looked I saw that the sensor was not seated against the windshield properly (below the mirror). Popping off the mirror cover and seating it correctly fixed the problem. You can also try pulling the lever towards you for a single wipe which resets what the optical sensor "sees" as a clean windshield. You should be able to spray wtaer on the windshield over the sensor to test it until you figure out what is wrong.

It's the black box in the left of the picture, below the flag in the background. If you don't see it then you don't have the feature. To get to it, the plastic housing pops apart by separating it left/right along the centerline seam (be careful). You won't need to remove the entire mirror assembly like I have in the picture.

awesome...luckily, I didn't need to go through all of that...I just reset the wipers like you mentioned by pulling on the stalk for a few seconds...went through a carwash and the wipers are sensing the water again!!! Would have felt silly taking it in for service to fix that....they would have taken my man card away...lol

Nothing is wrong with my sensor, but I am posting just to say thanks to BlckCat. Those types of responses are incredible and help way more people than the OP.
