Default Rear Diff oil type

Hello,

I am currently in the fog my Jaguar S Type R 2004 (SAJAA03S741N07607) uses 75W-140 and from what I saw on Castrol's site it suggests for my XF 2008 3.0 V6 Petrol (SAJAA05M49FR14714) the (Up to VIN R41866) 75W-140 instead of 75W-90 (R41866)

Which one would it be? Isn't the 75W-90 for the Diesel variants?

Cheers

What does it say in your owners manual?
I follow that as a start.

The specification of oil depends on the type of differential not the engine. Earlier XF cars used the same style of differentials as the earlier XJ and S-type cars. These differentials use 75W140 gear oil

According to the Jaguar EPC I looked at, cars with VIN R47154 and after had the new style differentials and they require a 75W-90 gear oil. The new style differentials in XFR cars have electrically operated clutch packs. They require 75W-90 gear oil but it has a different specification from the normally aspirated XF cars to accommodate the clutch packs.

Your Owners Hand Book should have all the lubrication specifications given in a Specifications chapter near the end. If not you can download the Service Manual from the stickies above.
You can also do a search of this Forum for threads on Differential Oil Changes and find data there.

Thanks much Six!
Great info.

I looked but the 2009 XF owners manual makes no mention of the rear diff oil at all?

Sorry, the XFR takes BOT 720 not BOT 750.
Why the XFR only? Coz it is/was the only X250 with the e-diff which is an electronically controlled limited slip diff.

Any idea where I can get the Jaguar EPC? I tried using the one on the forums but Windows 11 is messing it up and throwing all bunch of error codes and when it works it doesn’t show anything. 😢

This only correct for the vehicles you describe as X250 with the e-diff. There were XF cars built as 2008 to 2010 X250 models up to VIN R47514, with supercharged engines, which had the old style differentials without electrically operated clutches. The specification for these differentials is M2C192A ,a 75W-140 full synthetic gear oil.
These early cars, up to R47514, were never badged with the R motif from the factory as far as I can tell. In some markets they were badged with "SVR" and in the US and Canada with "SUPERCHARGED"

Not really. I use Windows10 and it works OK. The other thing you could try is a Jaguar Dealer website---some dealers in Canada and the US have parts catalogues you can order from.
Try www.parts.harperjaguar.com When you try it remember there are no 2008 XF in the US and Canada so look for 2009 XF in the catalogue and watch the VIN.

I use win10 pro 64 bit and J-Part. Took some work but man is it useful!

Six Rotors thanks for heads up on the rear diff oil in the JEPC/J-Part. I did not know it was listed there but it is!
Jaguar BOT 720 part number is C2D3650 but like all Jaguar fluids it's too expensive from the dealer unless you just want Jaguar branded containers.
For the "NON 5.0L Supercharged" (?) It lists C2P25272 but no oil spec is mentioned? Not sure what Jaguar means but maybe the supercharged V-6? Not real clear?

You need to understand what happened to the Jaguar JEPC and why you no longer have any diagrams?
Flash Player was used with JEPC. As you probably know Flash Player is completely gone and Microsoft has automatically removed it from all systems using an Windows update. So we had JEPC but no diagrams

We have a great and expert software guy named Steve who figured this all out and wrote a program called JPART.
JPART Replaces JEPC

It's free to download and install.
Here is his web site explaining JPART.
JPART

Note this still uses the underlying JEPC so you will need that. Try to get the last version which was V18. I have uploaded the files before but got complaints about virus stuff?
Here is a current JEPC download thread. But my download link is now dead.
JEPC Thread

If there is interest I can upload it again.
