Red XJR Grill Badge for my 2012 XF

The tape you buy at the auto zone type stores isn't a sticky and the kind you get ant a anti motive paint supply shop. I buy mine at our local auto paint store. It's actually black, not gray, and far more sticky.
And as for cold, you're right. I've noticed the gray 3m tape doesn't initially stick well in the cold. If its installed in warmer weather or heated with a hairdryer as well as the surface it's going on, it's a much better adhesion.

I can confirm that the red front grille badge part #C2D38728 fits like a glove on a 2010 XFR
The installation took me all of 2 minutes with a watch band sizing tool and a microfiber cloth to protect the badge surround. I did it right after I parked the car because the ambient heat from the engine warmed up the tape and made it VERY easy to remove.
Here's the one:
Low budget pics from my cell phone in my garage:
I pulled the trigger on some red Italian knock off center caps on Ebay for my wheels while I was waiting in the dealership. For less than $15 shipped, the entire set was almost half of the price of one OEM center cap...so if they suck I'm not going to feel sad about trashing them.
These are the ones I snagged: 4pcs Red Jaguar s Type x Type XJ8 XK8 XKR XF Wheel Center Cap 58mm 59mm 2 25" | eBay

I finally repainted my black badge and added the led ring behind it. The new badge is larger than the old but will fit flush with grille if you use two part epoxy clay to space it out. I pushed mine out a fraction more and painted the inside of plinth red to match. Now at night the outer ring glows a faint red. I've already had several people ask if it was an option like the new lit mercedes star option!!

I tried white plexi bit it didnt glow right. It needs the clear like a fiber optic and edges have to be perfectly frosted. Plus I want the plexi to not show from the front. It's a bitch to get it perfect. Hand filing.

Hey guys,
My Jaguar XF 11 needs to look different for the summer
I have received my grill badge today. I ordered a red one on e-bay and now i want to replace it. I am also planing to paint the grill black.
So does any one know how to install or assemble the badge, because the red badge i ordered has one of those sticky stickers on back and two pins that would connect but i am not sure how to take out the old one ( black badge) off from the grill. Is there any method to take it out without breaking any pins ?
Also I was wondering for painting the grill, What kind of paint should i use that would look contemporary in style? the Matte black ( PlasticDip) or Regular Black Paint that has chrome shine to it? If you guys have any suggestions please feel free to share , Thanks

Grill Badge Installation
In May of 2014, I swapped out my grill badge on my '12 XF.
I detailed my experience on page 1 of this thread. You'll love the red badge. Also, I have the factory sport package, so my grill is gloss black, so you can see the finished look in my garage pics.
Good luck!!
