Default Removing Cats

Hello Gents...looking to remove both cats on XFSC 2009 ...increase some HP and Sound performance. My Tech Shop TTM is awesome , so I am in good hands. Has anyone performed this task before and if so what is feedback.
Thanks in advance.

I know this isn't exactly what you are asking, but there is some good information in this thread.

Thanks Thor82....some great information...I think it wil come done to personal preference on the sound issue...I love the crackle and popping of the Ftype 550's...not saying what I am about to do will duplicate.
Wondering if any o2 sensortype issues/ check engine light etc.?

Again thanks....

Blackcoog?

You'd likely have O2 sensors popping check engine lights. I'm not sure what will work on the XF as far as fooling the O2 sensors. I was able to use O2 sensor spacers on my 2006 Audi S4. On other cars I've had to wire in a RLC circuit into the O2 sensor wiring to delay the signal as if a cat was still there.

Search the other forums. Some S-type R or XJ members may have done this.

Thanks!...yeah your right...I m not 100% sure , but Bruce TTM will add elbows and place the sensor beyond them to address check engine light/o2 codes.

Whats your thoughts on HP increase and sound difference?

Thanks

What ever you do you can't get the F Type exhaust sound.

If you read you will find out how Jaguar did it. It's pretty cool to!

A nice set of high flowing downpipes without cats should see a good bump in power on any FI (turbo/supercharged) car. The less restrictive the better. There are a few XJR threads with various dynos. In general I'd think you'd see 15-30whp.

Thanks Blackcoog.... I see you have also added the TCP 3" intake...plug n play ? Looks easy and again would think some performance with better flow ?
Getting ready to put away for the winter...maybe a late season addition.
Much appreciated.

The TCP intake is a great upgrade. Sound increases slightly because the resonance chamber in the stock plastic tube is removed. It looks fantastic and is easy to install.

You can always add a heat coating or wrap to any intake but it is definitely not required. I have no intention of adding any heat wrap and I've never had any issues with it. I have had it installed for well over a year.

My two-cents, you don't need to remove the cats. I can see you've got the Mina exhaust (which I also have), you just need to have the centre resonators removed, replaced with straight pipe and an X-pipe. Total cost to have this done at a local shop: $120. The burble and pop (and growl) are AWESOME. No drone at cruise.

This was after the Resonator delete (but BEFORE the Mina)

This is from the inside of the car, AFTER the Mina exhaust. (I also closed off the resonators on the intake to hear more of the supercharger) but unfortunately I was in too high of a gear to really hear it... the S/C sounds a LOT louder at lower gears).

Can't wait for pics of both mods. Can you have them take some undercarriage shots? I want to see were they put the O2 foulers and how far down stream.
