Removing Chrome Headlight Trim

Removing Chrome Headlight Trim
Hello,
I had a very quick question,
What is the best and/or the easiest way to take off the chrome trim that goes around the whole headlight on a 09 XF? I ordered the CF eye lids from Mina but have to remove the chrome ones first and im not too sure how to go about it. Any input is much appreciated.

Hi there, not 100% sure, but if they're the same as the ones on my XJ they are simply held on with 3M tape, nothing more.
See thread below and #2 for pics WITH chrom headlight trim and #27 for pics WITHOUT chrome headlight trim.

They simply pulled of, with gentle persuasion.
Please double check first
Good luck

You were right it was just held by 3m tape. Taking it off was the easy part, scraping all the tape off the headlight is what took forever but i managed so heres a couple pics. Thanks for the help. Is the chrome piece between the headlight and the front spliter held by the same tape as well??
The shadows mess with the picture a little bit.

The chrome pieces in the lower bar (called 'blades') are held on with clips, 6 or 8 in each one I think.
The only way to get them off without causing mucho damage is to remove the the whole front bar, then unclip the assemblies out from behind, then unclip the blades from the assemblies.
The front bar is easy enough to remove, if a little tedious, I did it three times on my old XFS.
Behind the blades is some fairly ugly and lumpy black plastic with holes in it, I doubt if you could do much with it to improve the appearance. Maybe wrap the blades in black or carbon fibre and reinstall them?

Hey Mark, good taste!! Lol. Did you get the side vent carbon covers? They look great.
Also, if you have another car you could drive a couple weeks, you should send your headlights to the guy I had modify them to match the new model headlights. They changed the whole feel. Much more updated. I haven't had a single issue with them. I did have a local guy sand and clear coat them after. They look brand new!!
Oh, I've also ordered the real XfR carbon valance. I'll post when I get it.
