Resetting service light/message - RESOLVED
So, I followed the steps to reset the service required message/light but so far I am at a loss...
I have followed the video below and I am able to get the "Resetting Service Mode" message, but no amount of waiting resets anything. I waited like 3 minutes and still no reset completed message.
What I am doing wrong or what could stop it from actually completing to reset the service message?

I know is tricky to get the " Resetting Service Mode " - but once you get it I assumed you just wait until it resets... 10, 30 seconds. But no... it just doesn't do it...
I did got the message... what else I'm missing... should I perform a rain dance before trying again?
Anyway, I guess I need to invested in one of those diagnostic tools sooner that I wanted ... I think those allow you to reset the service light that way.

So this is from the XK Service Manual but the software seems to be largely the same as the XF, so these steps might be worth following:
Note each step needs to be carried out within 3 seconds. Maybe make sure to press and hold the trip computer cycle switch before pressing and holding the rear fog lamp switch?

OK, I will try this one more time...
The pressing bits is done properly - I DO GET " Resetting Service Mode " message.
Problem is, that the message just stays on without returning a " Service Mode Reset " even after 3 minutes.
I will try again tomorrow... but not sure what in the world is going on.

I've figure out what the issue was... embarrassing a little lol.
My timing was correct, the only problem was that I had a Bluetooth OBDII scan tool connected to the car and for whatever reasons that was interfering with the reset function.
Once I got it disconnected, it got reset withing 10 seconds as they say it should .
The more you know...

A lot of members leave a scan tool or Torque Pro connected but I doubt many would make the connection this was interfering with the Service Reset procedure. I'll file that one away in the memory bank for future reference. The question is bound to turn up in other model forums.

Same problem here. I don’t have anything connect and it still won’t reset

Thanks davetibbs for the XK service manual instructions.
I just services the two jags and found it to be the closest success rate for reset I have had in a long time. I played a bit with it and found that even though they state "Immediately" , it is not super important to rush. I now can easily process the reset function by following the outline as described but without haste.
1. While holding the fog light button, press the start button (No foot on brake)
2. When the shifter knob starts to rise and the Jaguar logo pops on the center screen, let go the fog light button (Assuming you already released the start button)
3. Press and hold the trip button, then press and hold the fog light button (In the instrument cluster the service indicator will display it resetting and after 30-60 seconds it will post a complete indicator.
4. Release both buttons and turn off car.
I did have issues if I left the door open, had connections to the OBDII, Bluetooth on the media USB or even if I had a phone trying to connect when car is turned on.

>When the shifter knob starts to rise ...
But w/o the foot on the brake the engine won't star, and the shifter won't rise, will it?

Hey, does the warning light ever go off?
My light came on stating that there were X miles until I needed service. I haven't been driving the car much and I noticed that the mileage warning was decreasing much faster than I was driving. It had dropped to a 1500 miles to a couple of hundred, where I'd only drive a few hundred miles.
Yesterday, when I drove the car is sitting for most of a week, the service warning light didn't come on.
Does anyone know if the service warning light self-cancels?
