No worries. This car is just a weekend car for me, so it's as much a hobby as real transportation. Love being able to open up options for myself and others to modify their cars and get the optimal power from this great motor.

The thing I like about the ram air concept is that it helps the heat soak issues I know our cars suffer from. More cool air means more power and efficiency across the board. So I feel like this will make significant freebie hp and will only enhance the investment in the tune and pulley I already made.

Looking forward to the process of getting these made.

My car went to the dealer to have code P2601 fixed today. I had to run it pretty hard to get it to give me the "Restricted Performance" light and throw the code so it could get fixed. From what I understand it's a faulty supercharger coolant pump that only really matters when it's working hard.

When I get it back I'll arrange a time to go to RPI so they can have a look. Hoping to do so on Friday if all works out. Will keep you guys informed.

I think the 4.2 R guys like myself would be all over this. I know our market isn't as big as the XFR's from a performance standpoint but it's worth mentioning if you don't mind.

This mod will fit any XF there is. Even the 6 and 4 cylinders. Facelift-preface lift doesn't matter. All XFs share the same pluming from the bumper to the air box. You either have one or two. But they are all the same.

Work has been a bitch the past few days (16 hours yesterday), but I'm hoping I can get the car to RPI today. Waiting to see how the day begins, then will call to see if they are available. I'll update when I have more news.

Interested
Also would like to know if anyone is attempting the rest of the intake tract. I know there was a guy on here who had a custom intake (CAI) made out of metal.

Metal plumbing is not always the best thing under the hood of a charged air engine, it conducts underhood heat and warms the air quite a bit.

I've solved the problem on previous turboed cars by wrapping any charge piping in header wrap. Unbelievable how well it works.

I would as well be interested in this... Of course all depending on price, performance, and ease of installation... Also color would be important to me.. I'm not going to want to put some red plates right behind my chrome grill for the world to see.... Just my 2¢

I don't want Red ones either so I'll let them know of our desire for something in the black color palette.

So I went by RPI today and it doesn't look like it will work. There is a shelf in the area along with the tubular bracing and there really isn't much room for more air. Eloy said maybe 5 hp. So I decided it wasn't worth the effort it would take to get the fabrication and testing done.

Sorry guys but now we know...

Has anyone considered re-routing the cold air supply to the air boxes from behind the grille to the lower side grills below the headlights? Obviously the risk of hydrolocking while driving through deep water is increased, but the benefits of a more straight path can't be ignored.

You would block the small radiator on the passenger side intake I am guessing it is an oil cooler?

The BMW guys are using sink drains or light fixtures in there lower grill. Then routing a hose to the air box. That way the have stock and additional air being forced. I have looked at doing this and writing a thread. But you have to cut a 3inch hole under the airbox. I'm very tempted.
