You're really going to throw everything at it, including parts of the kitchen sink??

I think it looks pretty good. I have seen a few of them using resets lighting fixtures instead of the sink drain. But when I took the airbox out to see what I was working with, I noticed the only way to route the hoses from the lower grill is to cut into the body under the air box. Don't know if I'm that brave. It would only need to be a hole big enough for the hose to come through. And if I decided to sell the car it would not even be noticeable as the hole would be under the airbox.

Thanks for looking into it Kyanite! Bummer, I was looking forward to another mod added to the short list of things available for our cars.

Those BMWs are ghetto btw. Don't put kitchen stuff on your car~

Ghetto??? Not really the appropriate word. If your referring to the sink drains, I see your point. I'm just always looking for ways to benefit all of us. If you don't like that's fine. But who started this whole thread and reaching out to RPI to begin with.... ME!

ChXFS, I do applaud your brainstorming, but the byproduct of that activity is that typically for every good idea, you have at least one bad one. And just because the BMW tools are willing to do it, it may not really give you any benefit and it makes your car look silly. Keep them coming though!

I agree. Often times the difference between a 'premium' name-brand product, and a home-made solution that costs a fraction as much, is marketing. Sometimes those name-brand solutions come with significant engineering investments... though oftentimes they don't. Usually is flow-rates calculated on a bench, or they stick the car on a dyno. Well, a 3" PVC pipe from Home Depot Auto Parts ;-) is going to flow just as well as a 3" aluminum pipe, with the main difference being weight.

And the reality is that our platform does not have hardly any aftermarket support unlike the CTS-V or M3/M5 or S4/RS4 which have HUGE aftermarket options. Which means we will likely be forced to either adapt parts designed for other platforms, or fabricate them ourselves.

Now I am certainly not advocating cheaping out and getting come drain pipe from the plumbing section and crafting a new intake runners or the like. However, I can say that if someone really wanted air intake scoops, and none are available for our platform, it would be easy to fabricate from some aluminum sheet and some patience.
