Default SDD for my XF

Question for the group. I Just picked up a 2013 XF 3.0sc AWD and would like to know as much about SDD as possible. I am failure with using oem car software as I have a couple of other cars (2020 Ford Fusion, 2015 Ford Mustang) that i have done module programing to to activate different features and scan various items. SDD is a whole new animal to me as far as use goes but would like to know what my best options are for my current car. From what i understand at this point some sdd versions can run offline with out topix access and that is what i am looking for. I already have a battery maintainer and cable for interfacing but would like to know the best setup for my 2013...ie windows version and CPU specs needed, most up-to-date sdd version I can use offline, how to activate if needed in engineering mode, and make sure i have the ability to program spare keys and redo the immobilizer system as I have the dreaded central locking issue after battery replacement it seems. any and all info will be appreciated. just figured id try and get specific info for my car as reading through all the posts that mention sdd would take me years it seems like. And if anybody has a 2013 that they have a setup(CPU, software, and cable) that they use by all means share away. thanks all in advance

There's a huge thread somewhere if you look.

I also would like the same information. I have searched but have failed to find anything which answers these questions. Perhaps it is my search terms, but I have tried many variations. If anyone can point us to the relevant thread(s) I would be grateful.

Not being elitist but SDD is for very persistent people. If you don't dig around out, you don't stand a chance to get it going. Lots of trial and error, choices between old native OS or VM, which SDD version, clone mongoose or VCM, heavy duty power supply, etc, and comes with considerable risks once using it. I wish there was an easy step-by-step guide because I needed it too when I started looking, but now that I know all these variables and risks, this may never exist.

Here is good starting thread, but most information is scattered across XJ/XK/S-Type forums here and UK forum from just people asking questions.

Also I'm nearly certain that a pin needs to be pulled from the mongoose clone obd plug when flashing on facelift XF but I can't find the thread now.

Reading around these threads man, SDD is just a crap situation. There is no shortcut really, order a cable, get an old laptop, download some random software and drivers, see if it talks to your car. The last version that can be made not to phone home for everything is reportedly v150, but that's another debate, different people have different results. Anything to do with keys is highest risk of bricking the car, but some say it's no problem. Getting into engineering mode is either buying some sketchy code generator, or just going to this obscure website to get a free key. Or skip that with the softwaredownload.htm method, but it can lock up SDD. Really all over the place.

Thank you for the above, it will help with investigating further. I am aware that SDD is potentially dangerous and I am prepared to proceed with caution. If I make progress I may get to the point where I need to ask specific questions.

Please keep ALL discussion of SDD in the existing threads in General Tech Help forum otherwise information either gets repeated across all our Model forums or worse, it gets lost.
