Default The search for my Lug key

Since bringing home my car I have not been able to locate the locking lug key. There is a spot for it in the foam that the jack and spare changing tools are on top of the spare...but no key. The previous owner has spoken to the dealer but they are perplexed as the wheels were never off the vehicle.

Wondered if there were any other likely spots to look...beyond the obvious glove box and center console between the seats. I can't see anywhere else someone like a tech would have stuck it. No its not in the end of the tire iron either.

That would put a real crimp on changing over to your new snows.

Is it loose and rolled under the spare tire?

Mine seem to be originally made by McGard if that helps.

Exactly! I like to have things all in order and ready to go. I had been waiting for the owner to get a new set of lugs and key ordered and sent. I have pulled the spare etc out and it's not rolling around loose that I can see.

I did find the mcguard ID card in the manual sleeve though so will just order a new key.....provided they are the originals. Can't imagine they wouldn't be.

Better a new key for the old lugs, than a whole new set.

Doesn't involve surgery to get the old ones off

Keep looking though, some people have very strange ideas on what a "safe" place is for such things.

Try the seat back pockets or the door pockets. My tech used to throw it in the seat back pockets.

Is it just me or did the stock 09 SC 20" wheels not come with locks? Were they supposed to?

When I called McGard with the ID number for a replacement key she verified that the ID matched Jaguar OEM. With the cost of a new Jag rim I can't imagine not having locks on them right from the dealer.
