The services alternate "A" and "B", where the A service is a simple engine oil and filter change and the B service is the same as the A service with the addition of some other filter replacements, sometimes just the cabin/pollen filter, and a bit more thorough inspection/test of various parts and systems. If your warranty has expired then I recommend doing the service yourself, it's quite simple and costs a fraction of what a dealer will charge.

Thanks all - I've had the brakes/disks/fluid changed out and the air and cabin filters done when I got the car in January. I'd have assumed that if they didn't reset it properly at 45K (they were an indie Jag shop) it would have been hassling me before now.
So the consensus seems to be dump the oil and filter after a year and only 5K miles...?
And yes I can do it myself, I just have to go down the rabbit hole searching for the "best" oil as I think the kosher Castrol stuff is only available in big drums at the dealership.

The "best" and "correct" oil for the XFR has been debated to death on here.
You simply need a full synthetic 5W-20 oil that meets or exceeds Ford WSS M2C925-B or 945-B, it doesn't have to be the factory "recommended" Castrol brew. Plenty out there which meet this spec, including Mobil 1, Motul and Millers.

personally i change the oil every 7-8k miles on my xf. my engine fried due to oil within a year of having the car due to oil. luckily i was under warranty so my dealer was able to help and have warranty replace the engine. Oil isnt designed to last 12k+ miles. in the catalogue it states to change the oil every 10k miles or less IF DAILY DRIVEN. but i have a 2012 im not sure about the 2010. Id rather be safe than sorry 100 dollar oil change is a lot easier to handle than a 40 grand engine personally.
