Default severley bumpy ride

Ok i Have the jaguar xf 2010 5.0L. My car ride is very bumpy suddenly even on smooth roads. I checked tire pressure and the numbers were all over the place so put them all around 34-35 it was hard me to get 34 exactly but the ride was still bumpy. Also i do have 20's. Can someone give me some insight to what the problem is? Are one of these wheels going to snap off on me while driving. I saw that thread with that issue. Thanks!!

You mentioned suddenly. Did it just starting doing it or it's been that way from the beginning? How long have you had the car?

Does the steering wheel shake? Does it feel like a specific tire or area of the car has the issue vs. another? The 20's are known for bending when hitting pot holes so you may have a slightly bent rim.

Fall off? Hardly. You've done the first step in troubleshooting already by verifying the tire pressures. If there is no obvious damage to any rim or tire the next step is to take it to the dealer or a reputable indy shop, or even a tire dealer that you trust and have them check the balance and alignment. It is unlikely that the suspension has worn to a point to cause a problem, thus ruling out bushings, dampers, etc. So, unless you remember smacking something really hard, like a curb (kerb for you Brits), then it is probably something minor.

BTW, and I'm sure you know this, tires will take a few miles to smooth out, so to speak, if the car has been sitting and especially if it is cold.

Let us know what you find out.

Do you have dynamic drive control? Did you accidentally set it to Sport?

Thanks for all the responses was at work and school all day and night.

The bumpy ride just happened recently it almost feels as if you have a flat tire and your driving on it but its a bit less dramatic.

The steering wheel doesnt shake but i did hit the same pothole twice that i didnt see the night before the shaking started. After i hit the potholes i drove for a considerable distance and nothing was wrong there was no shaking. Im In ny they are everywhere.

I do have dynamic control but the car wasnt in sport mode.

I know for a fact i need a wheel alignment on the front right tire i just noticed unusally inside wear on the front passenger tire a few days ago but havent had time to get it aligned. Could that be the culprit? Thanks Fellas

Uneven tread wear can most definitely cause vibrations. If it's bad enough you may have to get another tire or set of tires.

Hitting a pothole likely bent your wheel. You probably need a new wheel. If so then you need a new tire also even if it doesn't look damaged. Wheels can be repaired but bruised tires cannot. Don't risk it.

Ok well i went to the tire shop and when they put my car on the lift the tread was considerably uneven. Unfortunately the shop didnt have the tire i needed. So i have to wait to get a tire tomorrow and see if that does the trick

If the tire is uneven, then there is a problem. Fix the problem before replacing the tire or it will accur again in the future.

ok so my tread on my tire was severely uneven . On the front passenger the inside of the tire was bald but andit was unevenly bald. So it was bald but thinner on certain parts of the bald side lol and thicker on other areas of the bald side and we believe that was causing the bumping. I feel like im advertising for hair club for men.

Bought new tire they couldnt do the alignment there so im going to get it done when i return from my trip.

Have the car aligned. A new tire will only fix the issue temporarily until it begins to wear unevenly.

Your wheel is bent dude. It may look ok from the outside but it may be bent pretty bad on the opposite side(internal).

The place that installed the tire should have balanced the tire and if it were bent they should have noticed it unless they were able to balance out the bend.

trie shop said they didn't have the capabilities to align the wheels. im going to get them aligned tomorrow hopefully that solves the bumpy ride that still exists with the new tire. I'm really hoping the rim isn't bent smh

Wheel alignment and balance are two completely different things.

When you head your new tire installed they would've balanced that tire. The process involves rotating the wheel and tire at a extremely fast rate to check for any vibration or lack of balance. Weights or counterweights to be specific will be added to balance the tire/wheel combo.

Alignment has to do with your toe in/out your track. Essentially how straight your two tires are towards one another and to the surface that they're on.

If your wheel was bent you had a tire shop install a new tire to it and they couldn't tell find a new tire shop.

ahh i misread the balance questio. I went to pep boys they had the falken tires so i went with that. They had to have balanced the tire i mean thats standard. Im going back today though because im going to get three more wheels and find a shop in my area that is able to give an alignment. Ill report back
