Default Smart key not found

Hi

i I was wondering if anyone can help

i Have a 2013 xf

recently I changed my battery and lost central locking. However after much reading on this site I got a laptop on mongoose cable and eventually a working ssd. With it I was able to run the replacement battery which fixed the central locking.

this was yesterday. Today out of the blue now the car just says smart key not found. I can’t do the same with the ssd because I can’t get ignition.

anyone any ideas of how I can get past this? As mentioned I do have a ssd working but can’t get ignition because of the smart key error

many thanks

Steve

Copied from a guy on Facebook.......

Car won't lock after battery disconnect. This is solved via immobilisation in SDD.

Issue two less common:

Key not recognised at all hence no ignition, immobilisation not possible.

This is done via cluster reprogram as it will bypass the key sequence, turns ignition itself and do the immobilisation at the end.

This will also update cluster to latest software, bonus.

Hi, I have a 2013 Jaguar xf r Sport, quite a few "Experts" have been out to me and still the car won't start.
It may be that the BCM is now corrupt, getting "Key not recgnised", when trying to use Immobilisation I get "Cannot write to security identifier" and quite a few other problems, I need someone who knows what they are doing and after readin post I think you may be that person.
I live in Milton Keynes and would love someone to come out to me but getting too many conflicting messages about this problem.
I've been told, go get a new BCM, go get it repaired, go get it virginised and a few more but ZERO help to actually get this car running again.
Can you help please?
Many thanks in advance for your time even just reading this.

This has commonly been diagnosed as the BCM after changing battery - something about not 'coding' in a new battery to the car. Apparently the way to avoid this is to disconnect the old battery & wait maybe an hour until all modules are discharged (or touch the battery leads together) before fitting the new battery.
If no start, the answer is as John W says above. You need SDD to solve the issue by cluster reprogram.

Trust me just use a maintainer, especially if your not comfortable, playing around with the battery can cause many issues ,I've bailed out many members, just a heads up, do what's right for you and what makes sense

Would leaving a battery maintainer installed and operating while swapping out batteries prevent issues?
